I'm with shernernum (say that 5 times in a row) here, the CJB car is good stuff but it ain't got the mojo for whatever reason. Gravel's about the only guy that's been able to rack up big wins in it so that says something about Gravel.
I was at the Grove every Friday night in 2012. "Rahmer was thought to be washed up in it"" is being very kind. He looked down right awful in it and then look "what happened when he got out of it"
I think it will be more of the same if Shane Stewart or whoever is in it next year. Now if you bring Stewart AND Paul Silva, then that's a different story....a story that's not gonna be told but would likely be a good read if it was
|
I dont think Stewart and Silva is going to be a different story though, considering that Silva became the Crew Chief on the 2 after Lee went home starting at about the beginning of July? I am not sure if he still is or not, but I know it was shortly after the Knoxville outlaw show when that changed. He still hasn't done muh since then. I think Shane is a good driver, dont get me wrong, but I think Shane was better 5 years ago. It seems like he can start up front and run up front, but if he starts 16th he finishes 19th or something, but doesn't really seem to regularly go forward.

I see Kerry Madsen in a 2nd CJB car at world finals... precursor to next year maybe?
|
You're right about the World Finals, but next year with the GO MUDDY # 2 will be similar to the run he had this year as far as schedule goes.

I'll be the first to admit, I have zero inside sources here. But judging from the rumors that others in these threads have sounded so confident about.... Is it safe to assume the the following:
Macedo to KLR?
PPM or McFadden to JJR?
Does that leave Gravel without a WoO ride? If he doesn't get the call from NASCAR soon teams would be dumb to not have him in their car. Never been much of a Gravel fan but the talent is obvious. 2018 not as much as 2017, but Gravel was the only driver to go head-to-head with Schatz and win as many of those races as he lost.
A friend of mine jokingly said Baughman-Reutzel Motorsports should hit the road w/ WoO and field a 2nd car with Gravel... No idea if they have the budget for that but that would be cool.

yeh, 35 wins in 4 years with KLR is pretty dam good but the mojo was definitely gone this year.
Just further proof that Steve / Karl Kinser, and Donnie Schatz / Ricky Warner were/are really special teams. Others have flashes of greatness but you can count those who can do it year after year after year on one hand....heck two or three fingers. There's more to it than good stuff, good driver, and good wrench....gotta have the mojo
If Paul Silva stays out on the road all year next year with yet to be named driver - and they gel, which isn't guaranteed but more likely with Silva - they'll have more than one win.

Paul Silva is the General Manager at KLR and only crew chiefs the car Kyle drives.
I’m not sure about his “going out on the road”? Why?

No silly season rumors surrounding the 15? How long has that crew been together?

When the announcement was made that Chevy was coming on board, around beginning of August, there was an article on Sprint Car Unlimited stating that Lee Stauffer left the team after Williams Grove Summer Nationals and Paul Silva took over crew chief duties starting in August. That is also when they switched from RPM Chassis to Paul's Eagle chassis. I am not sure if they have found someone else as crew chief yet, but that would lead one to believe that Paul is still turning the wrenches.

I believe the Macedo deal is about 99% done, just waiting for the offical press release. From what people have been saying in the pit areas is that Gravel is going to Nascar, although no one seems to be saying where exactly. I would think that he probably has some things lined up already or else there would be news circulating about what team he would be going to. I haven't heard his name mentioned at all as far as any sprint car team and with the talent & resume he has I would say his name would be mentioned with some team by now.
From what people were saying at Eldora, Buaghman-Reutzel is going true outlaw schedule which leaves the All Stars looking a little light next year. 10H, 3G, 87, heard Blaney out of the 70, not sure about Paul McMahon or the 13. Will be interesting to see who will be traveling with that group next year.

Dale Blaney is running the Briscoe car at Charlotte.
I read a rumor that Greg Wilson May be considering running more locally next year so he could be back with the All Stars.

I would love to see that. Wishful thinking but ASCoC could have another strong year if:
Dave stays in the 70 car and McMahan stays in the 13 car.
Wilson returns, Dale and Kemenah find rides.

Paul will be/planning on being back in Buch 13, now where they run I'm not sure.

Don't see Pittman leaving KKR especially the way theyve run since Knoxville, plus I hated it when he ran in PA.

Saldana in the 41 next year, part time scheduled. I belive fits both parties. Rahmer in the 27, should it return next season. And Gravel in his own deal, or a newly formed team.

Debateable. Not saying one is better than the other but you could definitely make a case, either way, for who has more potential in 2019.
My biggest reason for saying this... I would say Gravel is having a "down" year while Pittman is having a good year. Yet Gravel is still ahead of Pittman in standings.

I disagree and I said it in a post over the winter gravel had year last year that was outstanding and I don' think anything close will be repeated for a long time if ever the cjb team had the ball rolling for sure they were dialed in. I believe this year was a "normal" year for gravel. I believe if it weren't for the many rainouts pittman would have passed gravel in points in this late part of the season. Pittman is a better driver at this point and time will tell if gravel accomplishes when pittman has at his age. I beliieve cjb is a top 4 woo ride so his chances of success go down from here for a while anyway unless at some point he' able to land one of those top rides. Having a good ride on a good team is a big part of what makes these drivers "good" put schatz or sweet in destiny car if you think they have the same success your mistaken

Sounds like JJR may announce in about 50 minutes (noon EST 10/31).
