Knoxville sees it's share of nasty accidents during the Nationals... I doubt Cappy is going to be in favor of lining them up in doubles and take a chance at even more nasty wrecks going into turn 1.

I'm not going this year because I DON'T LIKE the changes they've been making.

1) Last years 8 car invert in the heat races just pissed me off.

2) Having a feature of such a length that it is not possible to finish without a fuel stop goes against the definition of SPRINT car racing. 30 lap A main on Sat night was perfect then they went and screwed it up.

3) If I ever do go again and there is a double file restart with 5 laps to go in the A on Sat and it ends up taking out half the field I will never go again.

I hate double file restarts in all classes, just adds more cautions and more junked equipment in a sport that is already suffering from lower car counts because it cost too dang much to be competitive. Using a cone on the restarts was the best thing that the WoO ever did for the sport.

If you don't like junked equipment you should of welcomed the 8 car invert last year in the heat races.

After all the rain that fell it was obvious the track would be a one lane train. It was a late decision

made to try and keep the drivers safer.

Yeah, this attitude is going to help sprint car racing. Stop going to the races! (although I do hate the 8 car invert)

I guess thats the difference between true sprint car fans and fakes.

I would hate to see a double file restart. Yes it does look more exciting but think how the leader feels: maybe only a couple laps left and he has fought everyone off then the second place guy gets a "free pass" and starts next to him. I would be pissed if I were leading. Plus it tears up alot more equipment. After one year there would be fewer locals. I heard straight from the mouth of a owner, who races knoxville weekly, and he said if knoxville went to this he would quit racing here. The team is fairly well off too.

I havent been able to actually watch many races this season, but it does seem it has made the racing more exciting. I would think a 2 lap shootout for the win on saturday night with a double file restart would be about as exciting as it can get.

Ya but it wouldnt happen. I could gurantee you. Doesnt matter who is up front someone is gonna put the guy next to him on his head then half the field will get caught in it and ,unfortunately, they will try another double file.........

If you cant pass the leader without the help of the double file restart, then did you really deserve it. I mean do you really win if under caution you get to pull up along side of the leader???

i do see your point about the cautions breeding cautions at the end of the races. it has certainly diminished the credibility of nascar racing in the last year as they will do 2 or 3 green, white, checkers. my point was, i am a die hard racing fan. i aint going anywhere. i will be at the nationals again, and again, double file or not. I am also bringing a couple of new guys with me and double file restarts will almost certainly bring them back next year and they will be hooked for years to come. but, if its a boring follow the leader week of racing, it may be forgettable for them. all i am saying is, even nascar made the right call to go to this system of restarts and green, white, checkers. it was to attract fans and stir up bored fans. it would be the correct thing to do to up the attendance in the years to come. not the most fair thing for the drivers, but they can always go flip burgers if they dont like it and someone else will gladly take their seat!!! thats all i am saying.

I'm pretty sure they changed the heat invert to 8 last year because there was a bunch of rain and the track was heavy for the heats. The next night the track was better but they kept it the same to make it fair for everyone.

All I can say is if you don't like it don't go! I'll be there

Great to hear you are bringing some new guys. Wish more fans decided to bring new ones too.

I agree something has to be done to bring in more fans. my problem with the double file restarts is local guys without big money behind them are gonna find it harder to continue racing. At knoxville we usually run three classes , 410 360 305, and alot of those guys work with a limited budget , with the exception of Brown and some others, and Im afraid the "little guys" are gonna get stepped on. Ya alot of them can pay to fix the car and be back next week but that only makes their budget room smaller and for how long will they continue to fix the car before they have dug themselves a hole and said enough. An who wants to see less cars on the track??

We need something that would help get more fans and help drivers and car owners out. Not sure what is the problem....

I say we bitch about it on this board a tell them how bad and boring it is that will bring them back.

I think we need to learn how to learn to look for the race and it is not always with the leaders. I have been going to races for 52 years and never have I not found a race to watch somewhere in the pack. Some of the best I have seen have been for 8 or 9 etc.

If you bring new people and teach them to watch only the leaders they will be board
