They cant RUN WHAY YA BRUNG because Davey Brown and THE CHEAPER big blocks dusted off the best of the Outlaws so they had to get rid of the Big Steel Blocks.

In the pits at the Grove I have seen them tech local cars but never an Outlaw.

Probably because the Outlaw cars have already been teched and when the circus shows up at any given track they tech all the cars that haven't been teched yet. Or are you saying that they only tech locals after the race?

Getting rid of the big blocks was so many years ago that it is not relevent today.  Back then the sbc got maybe 600 hp.  The steel BB were so heavy that today the 410 sbc would make them look silly.

exactly, and further noted, the rules have changed the entire dynamic of valve location, there is far superior head construction specifications  to bolt on to a (sbc) origin engine, trouble being thier not legal, and at my first glance of the BBC vs SBC my old mod days guys were cubed up to 434 and 421 on a sbc, it wasnt uncommon, that with the weight savings was the killer combination, the severity of the dimentions put the repurposed blocks at risk tho.  mind you this was IMCA mod type stuff, a aftermarket block may hold up to such conditions  hp-rpm-compression all plays part, but my point is 434 isnt too far away from a 454   well over 150lbs less,  the BBC trouble is, its just too dam heavy..  getting off corners is the wheelhouse for this type racing.
