I was serving Bobert to you on a silver platter. Anyone who believe's a crew chief is more important than the driver needs to look no further than Rahmer's team to see the truth. Freddie and Brandon are great young drivers, and I'm quite certain much of their early success has been due to Big Freds ability to set those cars up. Put Stevie Smith in the same car and he's a threat to win anywhere anytime and has done it. Same car, same motors, same crew, and same crew chief, yet one driver does way better than the others, I guess Stevie must be luckier than the boy's or he has better chemistry with the crew chief LOL

Well you do have to be kind of real when you do comparisons. The experience factor Stevie has over Freddie and Brandon carries more weight than the crew chief or the car. Get real the next time you choose to do a comparison of outcomes!

The people on here that said it is a team effort are spot on. 1) Donny is on the top of his game. 2) Ricky can understand what he says and knows how to make it work. 3) They have all the resources they need at their disposal. 4)They have been running the same chassis and motors for years. Everybody else is always experimenting and they are just fine tuning.

When you have that kind of money behind you, you can always be racing with fresh equiptment. Ron Shaver builds a great motor to begin with but I doubt Schatz ever puts 15-20 nights on one. The fresh equiptment, great team and team work is why he has not had a DNF in over 2 years. Think about that for a minute. No equiptment failure in a feature, no blown motors, no wrecks! Unheard of. His DNF streak is far more impressive to me than all the wins, and his wins are pretty damn impressive. That is how he wins championships!

Someone mentioned that Donnie brings more endorsements & money, but not saying that he did not attract when driving with Dads dollars. I do believe that Smoke is the main ingredient in attracting sponsors & endorsements. Smoke hired the 2 best drivers in the sport to form an unbeatable combination of team cars. It certainly has payed off & Donnies ability to trim down, work out & refocus has been a much over looked part of his dominating success now. He is on top of his game & will stay there barring injury.. No matter what, there is a new sheriff in the World of sprint car racin....
