Putting my popcorn down for a sec to join the fray. For the record, I am a rabid Seahawk fan since 1976.

I will say a couple things:

1) people will not understand how the injury to Lane on the first pick hurt us. That moved Maxwell to the nickle slot and moved Simon to corner. Brady and McDaniel saw this and decided to play catch on that side the rest of the day.  Brady only threw to Sherman's side 2x.... he was 2 for 2 for 6-yards.

1a) I really wish they would have left Maxie at corner and Simon at slot so he would have help from the LB and SS. he got beat like a drum all day.

1b) I had a bad feeling when I saw Marcus Burley was inactive (another DB) as no other options were there with Lane out.

2) losing Cliff Avril was also a huge blow as after he left the game with that concussion, there was no pass rush from the left side. Schoefiled and Dobbs cannot carry Avril's jock.

3) comparing defenses against one another from different eras is moot. It's like comparing Foyt to Kinser to Petty to Pearson to Opperman - who's the greatest of all time. We can just say that in this moment, for this era, the Seahawk defense is the best.

4) the play called was a very high percentage play - if it makes it - we are having a different discussion. Hell, I was screaming at Pete to go for the FG before halftime.

5) Take nothing away from what the Patriots did. They game planned to live on the short pass away from Sherman with run mixed in. We took the run away, but they passed the ball very well. Brady exposed our 4th string DB  - just like any other QB would have done.

6) The injuries to Sherman, Chancellor and Thomas did not have a real impact on the game. Those dudes played through the pain and did a great job.

7) The problem with the game was that the LB's were highly absent - they did not make the plays across the middle.

8) For the 'upteenth' game, we could not get off the field on 3rd down.

9) I freaking hate Belichik and Brady.

10) I have nothing but admiration today for the Patriots on how they played their game. They won the game - we did not lose it.

11) Butler was going to be either a hero or a zero - good for him!

12) It hurts to lose, but we'll be back.  Next up...... free agency, bring it!!!!!!

Great post David, nice to see an actual football fan join the fray.  I am not a big fan of those two guys either but they might be the best ever at their positions, stats don't lie.  Where the Hawks screwed up was to run their mouths and alienate people from coast to coast.  More people were happy to see them lose than NE win, I was one of 'em....

We tend to be a very proud and loud fan base that travels extremely well throughout the USA to support our team. Tends to make others not like us so much. You know what - cry me a freaking river. :-)  We've waited decades to have a pro team that was relevant - and now we have one and are enjoying it. Thing is - the team returns the love we show them. I've never seen a relationship between a team and fan base like this. High-class organization from Paul Allen all the way down.

12 for life....

I guess you have never experienced the Green Bay Packers and their fans.   We stay real and do not jump off the bandwagon  when we stink..  Watch, when Seattle stinks again, no one will remember "12"

Have you ever seen the home teams stadium when the Pittsburgh Steelers come to town?? They are by far the best traveling team when it comes to fan base across the USA.  More than a few teams should be ashamed when there is more black and gold in their stadium than their own teams colors.

Used to be like that with the Yankees, but those days are pretty much done.  Steeler fans are without a doubt spread coast to coast, much more than 'America's Team' could ever hope for.  We'll see what happens to the Hawks fans when the down years start, which if they can't sign all the big egos will be sooner than ya' think.  It helps having no hockey and B-Ball team in the area to cheer for also and the Huskies haven't been great for a while now, giving the reason to root for Wilson and the boys....

I don't discount the cheese-heads and the steel-curtain, I know y'all are out there.  Just at this time and at this moment, the '12' are killing it. We all know that bandwagon fans drop quick, no matter the team. It's the true fans that make it work thru thick and thin.

This is a racing thread?.... OK, basically grew up at Skagit and Sky Valley before that. Watched Kasey get his start in a sprint car. Spend a few nights a year at Elma as well. Agree with Beitler. Nowhere else I'd rather be than at Skagit on a Saturday night....

Unless you live in a hole, there isn't too much racing right now to talk about.  It gets like this every year.
