Dave, your idea of a Dusty Heroes/Stand on the Gas type book would be excellent! When you consider the changes in the sport since those books were written, I think you'd be the man to get everything up to date.

This is an unofficial poll for Dave, asking whom the audience would recommend for his next book.

There will be so many names thrown around, maybe soem will spark some interest for Dave to pursue, as if he doesn't already have multiple choices already. All of his current books, were written on people still with us, meaning above the ground, so keep your suggestions with that in mind.

Some ideas:

-Al Hamilton

-PA Posse as a whole, maybe a paragraph on some popular drivers and parargaphs surrounding the competition in PA (idea sparked from Wolfies book and his mention of his years in the first Beef Mobile) and then some history of the tracks (past & present)

-Knoxville Raceway and the history of the Nationals and museum

-Brent Keading & Family

Jim and James McElreath. Jim McElreath raced everything stock cars, Indy cars, sprint cars, champ dirt cars and midgets. And won! He built all his sprint cars {27total} in his garage the old way, even without a tubing bender or any fancy tools they use now. He deserves a book written about him.

Kinser still isn't done and a book now may serve an injustice to his career.................but doing one now just might stimulate the economy enough to get the US back on track to a financial recovery.

Gary Patterson or Bubby Jones.

A book about Bubby Jones would be great.  Is there anyone else with such a varied resume?

An outlaw before the WoO.

A USAC racer with a healthy dose of pavement racing.

The Indy 500.

A successful stint with the CRA.

Architect of the Perris Auto Speedway, including track maintenance.

Crew chief/mentor for hire.

Rick Ferkel

Rick Ferkle (the Ohio Traveler) is a good choice. Rick was good for the sport, and always very fan friendly. Very nice man to talke with,

Wow!! This gets really tough. I would buy a book about Ferkle and Steve Kinser and also one about Karl Kinser. One about Steve Kinser could go back to his childhood when his Dad, Bob Kinser. was driving. I think that would be a great read.

A Kinser book would be awesome, but like many have already said he is still racing. I think a book is due after he has retired. There is a book about the Iowa Highschool State wrestling tournament called Four Days to Glory, it follows two wrestlers through all the happenings of the tournament and craziness of it. I'd like to see a book inspired by this.

I think that a book about a race would be interesting. I think a book following a few drivers over the course of the 4 days of the Nationals would be cool, maybe follow a big time outlaw team and also show what its like to be a small budget team.

Books about people are very interesting and there are a lot I'd like to hear from if I had to give my top three for people I'd say....

1 Karl Kinser

2 Bobby Allen

3 Rick Ferkle

Kevin Eckert. Having said that I guess he could write his own with the help and discipline of Dave to oversee. It just might be the best point form book and maybe only one in History? Telling stories is something these two fellas do a whole lot better than most on this planet and certainly are the leaders in this sport. Take It Easy....

I was thinking along the lines of Bob Trostle, Shane Carson or Sammy Swindell.

Gary Patterson or Bubby Jones.

Patterson would be a great read as would Jones. Patterson's tragic death at Calistoga still haunts me. Pancho Carter's career also.

The Triple Crown, Knoxville Nationals, Western World Championships,( Manzanita), and the Pacific Coast Nationals (Ascot) during the 70's & early '80s when they ran with no wings and basicly "run what you brung" race cars.

I recently started ready the "Best of Times" section in the Sprint & Midget Magazine! Where Dave writes about Jimmy Wilson, its a fiction based story! Its really good! But I have missed out on the first 50 chapters so I would really like to start from the beginning!

Larry Moore would be amazing, he's the best of the best we ever saw in Australia, including Charlie Swartz Ray Godsey, and Rodney Combs.
