I'm just glad NACAR is getting back to their roots..even if it is the truck series! Would love to see this race!

He'll be tuned in!

I wonder how many of the 'top teams" will suddenly be calling their local dirt track to schedule some practice sessions?

Well it isn't like they haven't run on pavement in the past.

It's great all of these drivers from different forms of racing may want to compete but where are all of these extra rides going to come from? Will teams pull out back up trucks for one-offs like the old days of the Indy 500???

Just curious.

You can only get so many trucks on a 1/2 mile.

Thirty trucks will qualify for the Eldora race.

From the Truck Series site at MRN I found this:

“We’ve had talks about getting the trucks on dirt in the past,” said Steve O’Donnell, NASCAR senior vice president of racing operations. “The door-to-door racing that our truck series is known for plus Eldora’s popularity and Tony’s dedication to putting on great shows for the fans is a perfect fit. We’ll have a maximum starting field of 30 trucks at Eldora. More details on the race format are still being developed.”

Mansfield and Eldora are about the same size even though the shapes are much different. They ran 36 at mansfield.

I think I just lost interest in attending ALL races at Eldora. They need BIG MONEY sprint car races there, not Nascar Trucks. It's been happening ever since Tony bought it. All the improvements are finally paying off. Just pave the damn thing and get it over with!

The truck race will set an attendance record, get the place on live television and probably result in sponsor opportunities for the track. I don't think they'll miss us. ;-)

I think that a lot of the guys on here, because of their so called 'hatred' for NASCAR, cannot, and will not admit that this is a great idea, and should be a great event. It will go against their moral code. Just imagine, guys that say 'NASCRAP', or 'ASSCAR', or 'NAPCAR' or whatever other 'childish names they refer to NASCAR as, getting on board with this. BLASPHEMERS...... I agree wholeheartedly with your comments. It's all about dirt, right?

Thinking the same thing. I'm over 60 and some of these young naysayers are more stubborn and set in their ways than even I am. I think it's great exposure for dirt track racing and exposure is a good thing.

I see on twitter, Rico Abreu and Brady Bacon have stated they are looking for truck rides for this race. I wish someone would put Sammy back in the channel-lock 38 truck for Eldora.

I for one, can't wait to watch 60 trucks try to make it in the top 30 to just start the race. Pavement only guys will not make the show.

I think sometimes we're a bit delusional and biased in our thinking. Some of the common fallacies have been shattered during the past few years. A Late Model guy wins the Chili Bowl, one of the Busch brothers beats big name dirt racers in the Prelude, the list goes on. I'm probably guilty of this too. We Sprint Car fans tend to be a little bit too full of ourselves. I have a hunch that even if they do bring in some ringers (dirt Late Model, Modified and Sprint drivers) for the truck race that a NASCAR driver is going to win it. There's a reason they get to that level even if we won't admit it.

Nothing delusional or biased about pavement truck drivers crying on the last few live, Speed Channel, truck races, about "never driven a thing on dirt before", and "the Eldora race is set up for dirt guys to win it".

The late model T-Mac has driven midgets alot before he won the chilli bowl. Kyle Busch has driven alot on dirt before his win at Eldora (against no latemodel pros).

I could see if it were at Knoxville, some of the pavement truck guys could get away with running the bottom or middle, but this will be at Eldora where they will be running the wall, lap after lap, with only slide-jobs to pass. Good luck pavement drivers, your going to need it.

The Nascar guys in this event, who have a dirt background, or a dirt track ringer will win it.

At one point, didn't nascar tell him to shove off because of his issues with nose candy? It might have just been a rumor, though. Who knows?
