Let me tell you something about Steve. When he first came on this message board and began jousting with people, I was kind of skeptical about him. Met him for the first time about a month ago and completely changed my opinion. Does he make mistakes? Yes! He is new to the business of dirt track promoting and still has a rookie flag flying. When you jumped into your chosen profession or business did you know everything right away or did someone (s) take you under their wing and teach you? You have to learn and he is trying to do so. He is willing to listen to your thoughts and opinions. He has asked me and several other people to tell him when we see something that he is doing wrong and he will do his best to correct it. He wants to hear it, but he does not need someone with a screen name tearing him a new @$$ on a message board. Bottom line, he will listen. If you have a problem, call him or send him an E-mail. He will take your ideas into consideration and he will respond.

Likewise, he also reads this message board as we all know (LOL). And, he is a human being who like all of us, does not like being insulted. Especially by those he does not know who hide behind screen names. Think of some of the posts and the disrespect sent his way. Would you be happy if someone said such crap about you? No way! Keep insulting and complaining and I am sure sooner or later he will say, to heck with this and will fold his tent and close the track. The last thing we need in California is another track closing, because few new ones are going to open. Why anbody wants to promote with the current ecnomic situations is beyond me in the first place and we should be thankful for all of those who do it for us.

O.K i have read the rules again. it does say the pay out is a 20 car main starting field. i may not agree with that but i will follow the rules. i will be back to race again as we have made every race at vv and at perris. I and my wife supporte this car on very little money from some sponsors, mostly out of pocket like moose racing. we also could use some help from anyone. I would like to see some restrooms at the other end of the pits for the women that come to the races so they do not have to watch the guys pissing between the truck and trailor. also why not call every towing company in victorville and tell them they will get free advertising if they come out and push off the cars. We need help to get to all the remaining vv races and the perris events. but some how my wife and i will manage. LETS RACE.

im sorry but 20 cars signed in and you collect pit pass fees from those same 20 cars then the payout should be for 20 cars.

you wanna build car count advertise a payout minimum and stand by it no matter how many cars show up,set a minimum purse to eliminate any trouble.

Scott, Let Steve know that I'm willing to sit down and talk anytime he wants to but I've sent him at least 5 emails in the past in a very nice way with suggestions but not even a thanks for the suggestion. He either only reads this board or doesn't feel the need to respond. I'll be at Industry for Speedway on Wednesday or Irwindale drags on Thursday or I'll meet with him anywhere he wants to. If he wants, he can talk to me and I am hardly anonymous to him! He knows who I am! Joe

My emails were long before I was upset at him! Even though I knew I was right about him I was giving him the benefit of doubt!

I'm just spit ballin here but I think the hole is getting bigger.

Scott, I agree with you.

The rules of payment were posted, like it or not. It sucks this economy requires such a harsh slap in the face for the racers AND the promoter. I'd love to see pay triple what it is for everyone's sake, then we wouldn't have so much to read on this board. lol

If there'a a good crowd with 25 cars, but 6 of them crash, break, or whatever out, and Steve only pay's the second pay rate structure even though their were 25 competitive cars there; who gets the slap in the face? The teams or the promoter?

My family and myself enjoyed the racing very much and will be back at VV any time the sprint cars are there. As many know, my son and I go to sprints every sat. wherever they are. The racing was terrific, the weather was nice, and Cardey won. My mom, my two sisters and my stepdad had a great time. We go to the races to watch the race, not to worry about who gets paid what. The people at Victorville are super nice ot us and we will continue to go back until they throw us out. I pray for success for the raceway and for more races there.

Promoter. I have never been to VRP but have visited several race tracks in my days. Regardless of the words written in the rules of payout, the general and overwhelming understanding of what constitutes car count is the number participating on a given night. A simple "sorry guys, I'll fix it" then paying out the extra money would go a long ways. I have watched your posts on here. Instead of saying it's right here in black and white. Pay them. 20 cars supported you regardless of the floating purse and requirement to pre enter.

Just so I can understand this correctly...respected folks are actually defending what amounts to a pretty sleazy maneuver to lower the purse to sub 20 car pay rate? 20 cars signed in 20 cars raced in the heats, pay the DAMN full purse! I don't think you need be a religious sort to understand the immoral nature of that type of purse reduction. Wrong is wrong, that's just how it is. Maybe cut back on all those free hot dog and pizza offers if hes so short on cash for the purse. Most of the time politically speaking Joe (socalcowboy) and I couldn't be further apart in our thinking but on this issue we see eye to eye.
Cheers!

Just to say we had a great time at VV on Saturday nite. My son raced in his second sprint car race and had a great time. I want to thank the Perkins family for all the help they have given Jon. Im not an expert but feel he is doing great for only his second race. He will be back and hopes to improve each time. Also if any photographer has any pictures of the 0 car please let us know as he would like some from each race. Again thanks to all we had a lot of fun.

Jon...There is a guy in the pits at VRP every race named Vane. Usually has short grey hair...sometimes a mohawk. Super nice guy and great shooter! He is sure to have some good shots of you last Saturday.

Dear Racers of Aug. 6th Sprint Car Race "VRP",

As you know, this is our first year of operating "VRP". Several policies were already in place when we took over "VRP" that we just adapted as standard operating practices. One that was in place was sending out Checks for Pay-Outs, as you know there were several issue with that in the past, so I changed that to where all Drivers were Paid in Cash Night of Show.....As a Racer myself with Exhibition Acts, (My Jet Cars) when I perform, I want to be Paid, and would much rather receive Cash after my performance rather than worry about receiving a check as we perform across the United States. The policy in place for Pay-Outs when we took over was the Purse pay-outs were based on Car Counts. The policy was how many Cars took the Green Flag is what the Car count and pay-out was to be for that night.
I don't do the Pay-Outs, My girl tells me what she needs for Purse, and I give her that Cash. In this case, 20 Cars did sign in, but only 19 took the Green Flag. She asked for purse for 19 cars and Paid that out in Cash. The one Car did flip in the Heat Races, and could not Race in the Main Event. After reviewing this Policy, like the Check Policy that was in place, I feel that had he not crashed, (Not his Fault) he would have made the Main Event making it a Full Field. Moving forward, I am changing the Policy that Cars that Sign In and make a honest effort to Race is what the Car Count should be based on. I know 20 Cars made a honest attempt to Race Sat Night, so I will pay the Full Field Purse for this Event. In looking at everything, I feel that this is the Fair thing to do, and I apologize to the Race Teams for this on the envelope situation, and Old Policy.
I have calculated out who has what coming, and you can have it either by e-mailing to me Driver Name and Address, and I will Mail you a Check, or you can take the amount listed and have a Credit at the Pit Gate for Entry's at the next event.......E Mail me at [email protected] I will also say that rational people will figure things out and do the right, and honest thing, but personnel attacks on a persons character that you do not even know is just flat wrong. So "Cowboy", or who ever the hell you are, because I certainly don't know you, maybe you should think a little before you Judge and Slander someone!
The following are the Pay-Outs that the Drivers have coming, and once again I apologize to the Drivers for this honest mistake.
Sincerely,
Steve Quercio
Promoter
