It's neat watching everyone talk about how bad it is for the fans the purse is cut. Or how KWS is not racing at a track.
KWS costs a lot more to the promoters than previous years. And the economy is hurting a lot of tracks. Crowds are smaller, but purse is higher! So tracks have to make changes to make sure they are still in business.
Handy probably did what he did as a business decision. Chico probably changed gold cup as a business decision. This is a business for our promoters. They need to make money. They should make money.
A fair purse should be paid. But purses should not knock tracks out of business. There should at least be a fighting chance for the promoter.

You mention the economy and the need for promotors to make money. What about the "the economy" of running a sprint car? As a fan I don't expect those guys to run for peanuts. Last time I checked a right rear was still $200, a pit pass $40, a gal of methanol $4 and an engine freshening $6000. Crappy purses "should not knock car owners out of business" either. Simpson has given the car owners a "fighting chance".

parnelli jones was asked how you make a small fortune racing ? He said start with a large one . ty car owners sponcers and all of you lap money donators and yes cant forget the promoters. i asked and was told average upkeep is and can be around 1500 a week on a sprint and if you have a hickup the cost can be much higher. So i thank each and everyone of you that put these races on from the parking attendent to the head cheese in the pits tytyty. and hello Randy nice to meet you .
We need more sprint car racing at our home track.

And taken the chance away from the tracks. You have to remember if tracks close cars won't have a place to race. For most teams this is a recreational sport. Only a hand full do this as a profession. And most shouldn't.
If tracks don't take a kws race then what? It has to work for the track and teams. I was told it is almost $6000 more than last year. How do promoters make that difference up? Sponsorship can not be talked about. So many sponsors have closed or cut back on these type of programs.
I'm glad to pay the 20 bucks for a good show. But I hope the promoters make a buck.

Your in Chico and not going to hit up the Louie Vermeil Classic in Calistoga this weekend??? Guarantee you would have one of the best times! Nothing like beer and wine tasting(all you want) for 10 bucks, plus some great non-wing racers! I love this time of the year, because it's like a California speedweek, but with a variety. Make's for a great week IMO. I can't make either event at this very moment, but who know's that could change. Oh by the way....been to both.
Trophy Cup......Best race of the year hands down!

If the Gold Cup is only 10k to win, rename this event. Your doing this event no justice. This race once used to mean something.
