Knoxville Nationals: 166 in 1991

360 Knoxville Nationals: 137 in 2006

The stats pages on Knoxville's website are a treasure trove of this type of information:

https://www.knoxvilleraceway.com/History/knoxville-nationals-statistics-1961-2022

The 90s were crazy as far as car counts, they averaged over 140 for the decade.

I'm not usually one who corrects spelling mistakes but you misspelled Karl.

I knew the track had an awesome website but I've never seen that list before. Thanks for the link. Amazing stats. Yes the 90's. What the heck, was sprint car racing a high school sport in the 80's? Seriously, is there an apparent reason for 10 years of high numbers?

also, I see that Sammy had pole position 35 years apart. That's impressive too

Even though I may not know you, I
care what most of you think!

This may be my last update for a bit as I will be heading up to Knoxville tomorrow for the next ten days! I'll have limited Internet access while in the camper, but I'll try to pop on a few times with any updates throughout the next week. Safe travels if you're heading to Knoxville!

Thanks for your services! Enjoy! Not sure what dates I'm heading up. Still debating how many to do and still make work each morning... feeling a little scratchy in my throat. Cough* Cough* Smile

I suspect that it is the Pete Grove Premier Motorsports car that, I think, is from Ohio.  Yes, the blue one that you are thinking of.  Scott Theil (sp?) left that car a month or so ago.

For Kraig's sake I hope not.

I assume it's that car. At least Kraig will be a part of it once again.

Looking at the field for Wed and Thurs.  Seems to me David Gravel has been handed Wednesday night. Wouldnt be surprised to see him score near perfect.

I wouldn't go that far, but Thursday seems like a tougher field...

I'm not a check the weather guy, but since this is my first year going to the 360 Nationals I decided to check and scroll the 10 day for the 410 Nats.  I am a guy who loves it hot and gross....but I gotta say, the forecast in the mid 70s all week for the 410 Nats does look pretty amazing.  If that holds, and I doubt it will as I suspect it will change to 80s, that would make for some nice fast tracks and some nice cool air to set some pretty quick times IMO.

There are certainly a lot of numbers that arent used in the Knoxville nationals for a car number, but the one that jumps out to me is #23.  In a world that loves the #23 going back to Michael Jordan making it so famous, it really is sort of surprising that no sprint car driver has that number in the Knoxville Nationals.  Be even cooler if the car was red and black.  Sorry...just bored and vomiting thoughts here.....

I think of Frankie Kerr when I see the #23.  Orange and Blue Shoff Motorsports.  That was a nice looking car

That was exactly the car that came to my mind too when I was perusing numbers and 23 wasnt listed.

The most recent car at the Nationals with the number 23 that I can think of off the top of my head is Lance Moss, but that's several years ago.
