I am suprised that it took most this long to figure out that this whole mid week series races first it started with Castrol for the late models and now the high limit was put together for Kyle Larson to race!

I agree that he shouldn't be overturning official's calls from the drivers seat, but to say that he shouldn't be racing in his own series or should be starting at the rear is ridiculous. He's beating great quality fields and he's only won 2. He's the best sprint car driver and best race car driver in the world, period. The stands have looked pretty full at these races and I'd bet at least half of those people are there to see Kyle Larson race. These races pay well through the field and that's also a good thing. Not sure how long a mid-week series will last before the novelty wears off, but for now this has been a win-win for sprint car racing.

In spite of certain racing media people pushing the idea that the goal of High Limit was to go head to head with the WoO it ended up being what Brad and Kyle told us. It's a midweek Sprint Series modeled after the Flo Late Model mid week "Race Night in America".
The general concensus is that promoting races is easy and every viewer seems to think they can do better. This deal is what was promised, something to watch on TV in the middle of the week. Like any new series they have struggled with the threat of weather, track conditions, scary wrecks and a few questionable calls. In spite of any perceived shortcomings I enjoyed the midweek races so far more than any other viewing option. It's as simple as that. If it pissed me off I wouldn't bother.

I think both Brad and Kyle admitted that was not the right call. I can gurantee it will never happen again...How much do you want to beat a dead horse. It happened, they are sorry it did, They tried to rectify the situation with Swindell and Sanders....now let's move on!!!!

Yes, it is the 2000s. You can do anything you want as long as you apologize later.

If you want to drive a race car then do it, if you want to be a race official then do it. But pick one, not both. I have to believe Larson is smart enough to know stopping & getting involved in the officiating was wrong & stupid even before he did it! Looks super bad to casual fans & hardcore fans alike. Especially when the ruling involved Larsons best friend. Would he have done the same thing for a driver he did not like?

I agree 100%, but they can't undo what was done. I don't think anyone familiar with racing would approve of how it went down. After the fact, all they can do is apologize (They did), admit it was handled wrong (They did), try to make it up to the wronged party (They did) and make sure that it never happens again (I'm sure they did).

You name the driver......and I bet they get nervous. Larson admits he gets nervous about other drivers - so why wouldn't another driver get nervous when Larson is right there on your tail tank ready to make a pass.

And what the hell has this got to do with anything?

He should be starting from the back and spreading his winnings to the back half of the field.
|
Ouch! That made me think of something we learned about in junior high. "From each according to his abilities, to each accordiing to his needs".
How would you feel about watching a basketball game where LeBron James had to play with one hand tied behind his back?

One side note - I would hope that Tri-City would invest in some catch fencing upgrades in the future - it's not overly high, there's no tire deflector at the top, & it looks to be fairly flimsy with small, widely spaced poles & no cable reinforcement. Just my 2 cents, otherwise a nice looking facility!
|
Of course they will upgrade the catch fence, as soon as it kills somebody. That's how things work in racing.

Larson said he stopped on front stretch because he thought it was an unfair situation. What was unfair about it? Rico got off the gas of his own free will. When yellow came out due to Rico then he and Larson, who stopped under caution, should have both restarted at the rear. THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN FAIR! But then Rico is Larsons friend. Wonder what Larson would have done if it was someone else. I have lost all respect for Kyle! Total douchbag move by Kyle.

Not one mention about the car owner of the 57. Let's ask him, hey because you have a driver that is at the top of his game and is a part owner of the series don't you think he should give others a chance to win ? Kyle drives for Paul Silva, Kyle does not pay for the daily expenses of that operation. I'm sure he is getting a nice percentage and thats the way it should be. At the end of the night Silva and crew are still working as kyle puts his promotional hat on and figures out what time he needs to be at the airport to meet up with hendricks jet to get back home.

How would all of you who say it is ok for Larson to race in a series he is part owner of, feel if you found out Shatze or Gravel or Sweet were part owners of the WoO and they were allowed to stop under yellow with NO PENALTY!

I'm guessing you really don't like Larson??
I do, but it was garbage. Even so this is long over and past. I hope his very stupid move doesn't keep you from supporting what I hope to be a legitimate series. I think Sweet does a great job promoting. Track prep, start times, and moving the show along for a mid week show has been pretty fun for me at home on flo. About always done before I need to hit the hay. sweet admitted the fault. They chose a way to remedy it and whether enough or not idk but they did try.
Honestly if the Woo was allowed to run these shows Id be more ok with Larson runing a car as I don't think he would just run away with it. Without many of them there each week he has the capabilities of winning 50-75% of their races. Wouldn't be the first time ive seen promoters run and win their own event.

well that could be debated it is nothing new. Tony Stewart races in the SRX series and all star races. In 2006 I believe Steve Kinser became a part owner of the NST series. I'm sure there's other examples too but nobody has had a problem with them.

Yep it was put together "just for him" to race. Good lord. Eagle tomorrow is $1,500.00 to start. They've put together stout purses for a lot of drivers. God forbid you be thankful.

The series wouldn't exist without him..yes, he wants to race more sprint car races, but it's good for everyone. Drivers, fans, and racetracks that don't get a ton of winged 410 races. Spotlighting these tracks is fantastic. There hasn't been a 410 race at Eagle since 2017 and I, for one, am pumped.
