Becasue I didn't know.  I've never been there, but I see an absurd number of posts (albeit by one person apparently) about the track prep but never anything about what makes it bad and what could make it better.  So I asked.

After watching 3 nights of racing and seeing passing on the top and bottom, races won on the top and bottom, tons of moving forward, hearing drivers say it needed to slicken off more, and none complain about it having too much grip, and no rubber, no dust, I'd say the track prep must be pretty darn good.  So kudos from afar to whoever does the track prep at Prot Royal.  I hope to get there someday.

Do it! Tusky 50 rules! Smile

Eris Smith, you ever get the chance, you won't be disappointed.  The Tuscarora 50 is one of the top 5 races in the country.

Saturday Night by far was the best race = Awesome!  15 second laps early in the night.

The other two nights were average at best...some ok racing but not like Saturday night with the bottom groove.  The other nights were slide job city.  They couldn't hold it on the bottom the whole way around the corners without losing ground.  Boy now if we could only get razor Steve on board with these 15.5 or 15.6 second laps early in the evening and also get them to push the start time back about an hour in the middle of summer,  they would have the premier track every Saturday night!

Friday was great as well!!! I go with the eye test, not the stopwatch.  I saw 8 of 9 races where the 1st and 2nd place finishers had at least one car not start 1st or 2nd.  I bet any amount you like that won't be the case at the Natty Open., prelmi and final night probably 5 or 6 of 9 the front row will run 1-2/2-1 as usual.

Great event, great weekend, will be back every year I can possibly make it.  Great job to all involved.

The first two nights of the 50 every heat race and C and B main were won from the from row except the second heat race and Friday and Fridays feagture.  The dashes both nights were won from the front row as well.  You can try to make it sound more exciting than it was if you want to however, front row winners were the normal for most prelimary action the first two nights.

The feature on Thursday night was won from the front row.

Friday feature was won from the forth row. Racing ok but not near as good as Saturday night.  Because the track was in the 15 second bracket in warmups Saturday!

So you had one heat race and one feature that the winner didn't come from the front row in two nights of racing.

Saturday's track was perfect the second time this year they hit it perfectly.  You could run anywhere on the track during the feature.

Saturday night 4 of the 6 heats were won from the front row along whith the B & C mains.

The feature was won from 19th.  Track was perfect for racing in the feature.  That is all you can ask for.

16 races friday and saturday 15 of them the 1st and 2nd place starting cars didn't finish 1st and 2nd.   Again, I'll bet you anything you like that won't happen at the Natty, or you can change the subject again if you'd like.

The winner of the heats B & C mostly came off the front row. Who cares if someone from the second row finished second.  That doesn't matter - There were at least a couple maybe more that one of the front row starters had trouble.  That is how someone can make it to second place from the 2nd row.

Saturday night track and racing great.

Thursday & Friday - track and racing just ok...nothing special.

Just looked at a latest rankings as you can see Port had 3 of the top 10 drivers in the Nation.  Williamsgrove will probably have at least 9 of the top 10 drivers in the nation at the Natty Open.  Enough said.

1 Kyle Larson .8379 67 23 7 11 $206,695 $488,400
2 Brent Marks .7588 169 30 15 14 $563,394 $258,051

BStrawser stop being a hateful clown your whole life. Everyone knows you didn't get the track prep job at Port Royal and now you hate everything about the track. For somebody that doesn't go to the Port, your life seems to revolve around bad mouthing this track. If you hate the track so much stop watching and commenting races there. Move on and get over it. People would like to hear opinions from someone besides the same hater with an ax to grind. It gets tiring and annoying that the same clown keeps bring up the same old unjustified critisism about the track. Racers and fans alike from all around the country absolutely love coming to Port Royal. Flo Racing says these shows are some of the most viewed racing streams in the USA. This track is becoming a destination for out of town race fans because of the great racing and terrific job the track does with all of its improvements. PA is lucky they have such a great track being led by a group/fairboard with such wisdom and foresight. Please go away!!!!

You go with the eye test?  That's a dumb way to watch races.  You might think it was a good race but how do you really know?  I'll stick with the tried and true method of hot lap times to know if I see a good race or not.

I was told the entire story as to why he had an axe to grind, but had a few drinks and forgot the details.  However, with the love the entire racing world seems to have with the Port, and his nonstop rambling and rumbling about the racing, it is apparent there is WAY more to this than "I just don't like the track surface"...............way more.  I wish he'd just come clean and admit the real reason he hates the track and Razr Steve.  I had a long conversation with Razr Steve and he could give two rats asses about what Strawser thinks about the track prep.  He seemed a little more concerned with loading up the grandstands and pit area and getting them all to come back.  Seems to be working-----minus 1 guy.   I think he'll take those results.

The National Open is a WoO sanctioned race. Of course more Outlaws will be there. FYI, the Outlaws were in California this past weekend, at WoO sanctioned races. HUGE WoO point fund money at the end of the year.  You are an IDIOT!

My life doesn't revolve around bad mouthing this track.  Nor do I HATE Port.  I only know how great it could be if they only could prepare the track the way it should be prepared.  Not the way I think it should be prepared THE WAY IT SHOULD BE PREPARED!  They have the nicest facility in Central PA however it ends there.  Asphalt racing like you get at the Port is nothing but JUNK racing and that is not an opinion that is a FACT.  They have done a great job with the improvements.  Now they need to catch up with the track surface!

Port had one great night of racing out of 3 nights during the 50 weekend.  The other two were ok at best.  They are the facts of the matter.

Razor Steve needs to keep the track in the mid to high 15 second bracket for the racing to be at its best for the features.

Telling him that is like talking to a doorpost.  Put more water in the track and run in as hard as you like.  The racing will be better since that is what you need to have great features.  BTW the two best features at the Port this year were when they had the track in the 15 Second bracket early in the night.  Just saying.  Remember the great finish coming side by side for the finish.  I think it was DeWease and Macri.  You could have racing like this every time they race if they would make the track be faster in the beginning of the night.  That is what I am saying any slower than the 15 second bracket early in the night and it is like watching everything in slooooow motion....like watching paint dry or grass grow.

If the 50 was such a premier event  all the big dogs would be at this race.  I don't care where the outlaws are at.  So you had 3 of the top 10 drivers in the Nation at your event.  Like I said the Natty Open will probably have 9 of the 10.  The Natty Open by a wide margin is the premier event in PA  every year!

I have been call worse things in my life.

And yet in another thread when comparing Port Royal to Selinsgrove instead of Williams Grove you said the Tuscarora Fifty should not be sactioned by anybody. So, the question is; Will the race at Selingrove next week be lackluster no matter what happens because they will likely only have two drivers from your list? I guess fans should just look for something else to do.

(Try to comment about the great hot dogs at Lincoln, or delicious French Fries at the Grove. Stop all this ignorant track prep talk, it makes you sound stupid and hateful)

THANK YOU!!!

Hot dogs & french fries?

A while back I recommended the Philly Cheese Steak sandwitches at Port, & then realized they're only sold during the Fair....

Even you know that is because of money politics. If you want a WoO show, go to a world of outlaws show. Money politics.

One thing I think we can agree on, is that you've probably been called worse in your life.
