You have to have all your ducks in a row when your talking about this kind of money drivers; owners and fans knew about this rule why didn't Skagit know about it and why did it take so long for this to come out
When over 200K is on the line (total prize money for both events) Steve should have read the contract or had someone read the contract for him then ask WoO (WRG) back in June about the make up date before Steve announced (during Dirt Cup) the date as the day before WoO (WRG) comes to town
From Skagits press release
“The other concern from WRG management was that we were scheduled on the Grays Harbor Raceways rain date for their WoO event, I didn’t think that was a factor for the GHR promotions group since they scheduled on our rain date at Willamette Speedway.”
Here is what Jerry Schram (GHR Promotions and Willamette Speedway) has posted on this issue
Clarification Regarding GHR Promotions and Willamette Speedway
"In an earlier press release today, Skagit Speedway announced thast Thursday, August 30th is Grays Harbor Raceway's World of Outlaws "rain date". This is in fact a true statement according to the World of Outlaw's contracts. However the statement pertaining to Willamette Speedway having scheduled an event on Skagit Speedway's "rain date" is incorrect. There is in fact NO race scheduled on Sunday, September 2nd (Skagit Speedway's Rain date), at any track."
~Jerry Schram
Something has to give to many of these things happening at Skaigt
I've talk with several crewmen; drivers and owners and they will not be coming back to Skagit when this date was mention back in June

DC had a few travellers.
Kaeding (CA), Allard (CA), Stewart (Car from CA?), Crockett (Car from CA, even though Medford might as well be in California), Rilat (Car from Alberta?), Croft (CA), Dupperon (Alberta), Stidham (CA) and some from the forbidden land south of Seattle, north of Portland.
Yea, years past have had a lot more CA contingent, but at least there were some. Isn't that the whole point of "big shows" is to see the out-of-towners? Seems that's our one time to really see them, considering WoO and thier BS doesn't bring many CA guys north.
Also, there was plenty of debate about letting anyone not running the Thurs/Fri DC nights tagging the back of the C. It would have been interesting to seen how that could have played out. Seeing as how Skagit let someone do it last year.

Cars coming from Cali/Or has went down the tubes in the past years at DC; ask some of the crewmen; drivers and owners why you'll be surpised what they have to say
And car(s) tagging on the back on the field on the final night of Dirt Cup that has been done before
Look at last weeks 410 A Main Finish at Skagit - Main - Kevin Smith, Travis Jacobson, Toni Lutar, Barry Martinez, Eric Fisher, Chad Hillier, Colton Heath
Thats right 7 car A Main

Everyone is blaming the WoO. Why did Skagit simply not reschdule? Seems weird to me to cancel the event.

again the woo-zers are not the only show around. any promoter would have to have big balls to do battle with WRG, thus, the problem!
Ascot was the greatest of all time..
West Capital wasn't half bad either..

The promoter can simply re-schedule Dirt Cup to another date that does not conflict with WoO. Like the weekend after the OutLaw show, any time after that or any time before that. Doesn't seem like a big issue to figure out. There are about 60 days that would work before the end of the year ... Skagit regular season doesn't even end until Mid-Sept. Why would cancelling be the option choosen because of a conflict on 5 of those days? Doesn't make sense.

I would have told the woo, "If you ever want to come back to my track, the Dirtcup is still on". The woo guys could have raced their way from the D to the A. It would have made the best Dirtcup ever.

I'm already there on that one. At least for the events closest to me they priced themselves out of the amount that I am willing to pay for their product.

My comment quoted was to clarify that there were more than two out of towners, despite the fact that it wasn't 20.
I'm not surprised, though. I taked to one last year who had made up his mind after the Friday show. I've heard plenty from locals too, and kept pletny of eye on the two popular forums about Skagit.
I also can't relate to what the drivers say, because I am just a fan.
I can say I am not a big fan of Steve, but will always be a fan of sprint car racing, and Skagit. I also respect what concessions Steve made to try to make this right, when I don't feel its entirely his fault. Of the two organizations that created my empty plans on next Thursday, only one has presented his side. Where's WRG's statement, especially concerning the double standard of scheduling (other tracks having a 410 race <4 days prior to Outlaws).
WRG needs to rewrite thier 15 pages of legal crap to allow for a little leeway. Cause the DC final made a lot of sense where it was rescheduled to, despite any negativity towards the brain capacity of Beitler.
You also referenced GHR's response/clarification, which was no more than a miscommunication upon a miscommunication, which solved nothing, and in my eyes, didn't solidify Schramm's stance whatsoever. Willamette may not have a 410 show Sept 2nd, but as you H2H would know, more Pac NW people would rather run an ASCS show than the WoO show. Schramm and buddies didn't really care about Skagit fans one bit when they put the ASCS schedule together.

The Steve Beitler interview is at the 23:40 mark on my latest podcast to talk about the Dirt Cup. Check it out at www.shauninthedirt.com or right here at http://shauninthedirt.podomatic.com/entry/2012-08-15T14_11_45-07_00.

This would be easily solved...... Let Skagit run Dirt Cup and advise the WoO drivers they are not allowed to run it unless they had already qualified for the Dirt Cup.
I understand why the rule is in place to protect a promoters investment in the sanction fee - so some other track cannot schedule next to them and get the WoO for free. But, when the paying promoter comes up with a weird, special circumstance, you should be able to work it out.
Outlaws...... oxymoron like jumbo shrimp......

Yes 360 races is a the only thing left up here in the PNW
Last week there was only 7 410's that ran here in the PNW and I believe only 15 360's that ran here between two different tracks heck that would make a great A Main 22 cars
Why do the teams that are based here in the PNW traveling and alot more of them parked?
Past 410 Champion at Skagit counted 15 410's parked that could be running weekly shows; last Tuesday night
There are PNW teams that will travel around country for shows and not run local shows why is that

I would be interested in hearing from a 410 owner and/or driver as to why they are no longer competing at Skagit. Hard to believe they have lost 75% of the cars which normally race.
