To all, this thread has morphed in to what seems to be a whiners thread. Please listen between the lines. All of the participants in this thread have a huge passion for the sport of non wing sprint cars on dirt. Particularly if they are running with 410's. We want the sport to succeed. We want the operators of the PAS to succeed. In fact, we need the PAS to succeed. We want to introduce new people to this sport.

How do we explain to a new fan about what is going on when absolutely nothing is going on.

This is a request to those that make the show happen, the promoters, the announcing staff, the safety crew, the drivers, owners, pit crew members.

Help us help you. If you have a valid idea to move the show along. Voice it. For the most part the people in the pits are successful business people. They must have some ideas. Again, help us help you.

Thanks for the use of the soup box, Harry

You guys don't get it ....T4 isn't complaining about the racing ..he's complaining about all the not racing ...he brings someone new to the track and then spends most of the night trying to explain to them why the cars aren't racing......let's see..in another post a USAC rep claims they lose $6000 per night at Perris....in another post Perris claims they lost money from day one...car counts waaay down...pit and other fees are up and a dwindeling fan base....I've personally never brought anyone to the track and not had them ask 'why are there so many delays'..I've also never had anyone come a second time with me ...you do the math...don't turn on Rob..he just gives a damn

We have a new crop of rookies. Johnny Bluntach in the #58 car stayed with the pack during his heat race. Very impressive. Unfortunately he got into the wall in turn two during the semi.

Rodney Argo got caught up in a wreck that looked liked a lot of parts got bent.

What can you say about Mike Spencer? He chased the Demon like a terrior. Gets by him only to get called back due to a yellow flag. Then uses a backmarker as a pick coming out of turn four to get by the Demon on the last lap. Wow.

I sure we must of been waiting for the national feed to hook up, I can't think of another reason why it took so long to get the main event under way.

Good to see old friends.

Yes there were alot of bent and broken parts.I hope Seth Wilson buys one of those automatic battery operated tear-off winders for his helmet before he runs with again,it would sure be cheaper for the low budget teams. John Doherty

What would have been an acceptable length of time to run the show this past Saturday? I took note that the first heat was on the track at 7:10 (7:00 advertised start time) I did not notice what time the feature ended. I do know I was in the car heading home at 11:10. This after shooting all the victory lane interviews, breaking down my gear on the roof, loading up the car and socialising in the pits for a bit. My guess is the last checkered dropped around 10:15. Thats about a 3 hour show. Do want to get in and out in what 2 hours, 1 hour? I know it seems like a long delay between the heats and B and then again before the A. But gezzz it was a 3 hour show. People reading this thread that were not there would be thinking the show must have gone till 2 am.

I could care less if I get out of there at 9pm or 2am,as long as the show is rolling along what my grip is is all the useless down time,I understand that the teams need time to get ready for the main but damn they had the intermission the lightning main and the driver intros and then we sat there for near 30min before they pushed off.try telling a newbie why there is nothing going on while freezing your butt off in the stands.like race88 said I'm not gripping about the racing just the unwarrented delays.

now I'll shut the hell up

It was a fabulous night of racing with a great crowd, a great track and an even better race. Your unwarrented crying on a public message board will stear away more "newbies" than a couple of seeming long delays during a show that was run in 3 hours.

There were a couple of delays that added about 20-25 minutes to the night. One was when the drivers collected money for the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life. The other was for some kids who were there with the Perris Rotary Club to play a few games. There were a lot of teens there who had never been there before and it exposed them to a local night at the races. Sorry, but both of those are wortwhile causes/efforts. I would not call them "insane delays."

As far as 30 minutes between the driver intros and the first car to be pushed off, no offense Rob, but not even close to 30 minutes. To long, yes, and not sure what the problem was, but it was nowhere near 30 minutes.

I guess a few of you were at another track. wink Had a great time, chatted with people I haven't seen since the last race and saw some incredible drivers doing their best. imho whiners should stay home then order Jeff's DVD so they can fast forward from the comfort of their recliner.

Okay what started out as a comment on what a few people were saying about the delays in the show got out of hand,I admit part of it was me feeding the fire for that I apologise.

the truth is other than a few unexplained delays it was a great race(show),A few of you understood what i was trying to say(I.E. harryfan and race88)

I hope everyone shows up at Victorville on the 26th it should be a barnburner.

Read up 3 posts and tell me which one of the "unexplained" delays you, as a promotor, would have eliminated.

I am realizing that some of this is a contextual issue. If you are sitting near the start finish line, their is a great deal of activity. Kids contests and such. It is hard for us out in the hinterland to get too excited about those things going on a hundred yards or so away. I think that I anyway, need to accept that this is a family entertainment event. I think also that it is cool for the kids. We don't have many of them where we sit. Probably too toxic for them.

How many newbies are going to come to a message board called SCRAFAN.com for information about USAC / CRA at Perris?

Im going out on a limb here but, I would imagine until they are at the track and hear the website mentioned most people are going to the PAS or USAC websites for their info as brand new fans.

Do a simple google search "usac cra message board" and look what comes up

http://www.google.com/search?q=usac+cra+message+board&rls=com.microsoft:en-us&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&startIndex=&startPage=1

Do you think its only the couple of dozen regular posters that read this board?

According to the stats page 2784040 posts have been read on this board.

My point is that when casual fans are thinking about going to a race and check out this board to see whats been going, its a very good possibity they will think twice about going after reading some of these comments.
