The "regulars" know I am not too puter swift!

BigDog says...."real names will not be used!"

I don't understand because presently anyone can get your name, email address etc.

I learned the hard way not to open emails from people on this forum...unless you know you can really trust them! Frown

The only way a user can get your email or name is if you post it. We have a email sysem that a user can send you a email but that does not reveal your email address unless you choose to email them back. If we started posting names then everyone would just edit their info and use a fictitious name. That doesn't solve anything.

I can guarantee you my email address was obtained by a "member" of this forum and I sure didn't give it to him...nor anyone else. So...something is amiss!

You can't guarantee me anything. There is absoltely no way for someone to get your email address from the forum unless you give it to them or reply back to their email or someone else knows you and supply it.

I have no idea who you are but obviously someone "in control" on this forum

If you think I am going to get in a "urinating match" with you...you are badly mistaken.

I sent email to Allen about what I had received and got a real "rear chewer" in response so I did learn what to expect from the H/H's high archies!

Your board...you control it...but don't "assume" everying you post is the truth!

Have a nice day!Smile

You can e-mail anyone on this forum from the "user info" page

The mail is routed through a 3rd party, you do not get the person's e-mail address unless you respond to their mail.

I'd be courious to know if the mail you recieved had "HoseHeadForums.com - Email from user" in the suject line. If so, then nobody got a hold of your address.

I programed this forum 100% so I know exactly how it works. There is no way to get a email address from a user unless you post it or a user emails you through our email system and you reply back to it. Now if you are talking that this happened 8-10 years ago then that I don't know about.

Since you think you can guarantee me that it can happen please show me how.

Jeff

I was dealing with someone through email about this but they abandoned correspondence. I'm unable to post on FireFox due to the cursor not appearing in any of the post/reply boxes.

Also, whatever ever is being called from RaceSiteHosting.com (or maybe RacersClick.com according to Chrome) is incredibly slow. It always takes 10 seconds to load any page because of whatever's loading from there.

Get a separate board set up for the gamers and get them off of the main message board! I thought that this was a SPRINT CAR MESSAGE BOARD!

A game about sprint cars is sprint car related! Obviously you have something stuck up your ass!

No, IMO a game is a game - for kids!; while it may have sprint cars in it, it has no use to a real race car fan.... so, go and play with your toy cars some more, and leave the sprint car boards to the adults!

Your right buying a sprint car game means I'm not a sprint car fan. That makes sense. Come on old timer!

I love the idea of a mobile site - would be here a lot more with one. I'm also volunteering to help you test and tinker with mobile viewing or cell results/photo posting if you need a volunteer. I'm a Crackberry addict.

I haven't done this in a long time, so maybe it has already changed - forgive me, if so. I think that if I'm quoting a person, their quote should remain permanently part of my post. Right now, if the person I'm quoting edits or deletes their post, it edits or deletes it from mine too. This makes a thread hard to read or just plain inaccurate, if my response is to the original quote and the original quote can change within my post. KWIM?

Also, regarding the real names - I'm a member of a message board that uses real names. It costs me $, and more than what most would be willing to pay, because an employee had to call me to verify that I'm really who I say I am when I signed up. I had to provide name, address, a listed phone number and a government issued ID # to join. Without that kind of verification, insisting on real names is silly. People will make them up. And nobody wants to put HH in the position of having to verify identities or keep identifying information safe. And for me, personally, throwing my real name out there is meaningless - I have way more online reputation/history under my username. There are 42 girls with my name in every town in the midwest.

Thanks for asking, Jeff!

How about the ability to click on the "New" button and take us to the first post in the thread that we haven't read yet?

I would like to compile a list of suggested changes for the forums?
If you have any suggestions of things you would like to see improved or added to the forums please reply to this post with you suggestions.

Please do not post comments here.
This is for posting on how to improve the forum.
Things to add or fix or make better.

I'm not sure if we have 100% compatibility for the most commonly used browsers, IE, Firefox and Opera, but that is important to me. Facebook is making inroads into the social networking that used to be done exclusively on message boards. With that in mind it would be nice if a link to our Facebook pages could be incorporated into our profiles so we could connect easily with people here on the board. I don't think FB will ever replace the boards entirely but I see it being used more in conjunction with the traditional websites and message boards as time goes on.

Another note Jeff, please give those of us who are using your boards on our sites a heads up if you plan on making any changes to the newsfeeds. I've got the newsfeeds incorporated into my main page so I'd like to stay one step ahead of any changes.

You're doing a great job with these boards Jeff and we do appreciate it. Hopefully you're making enough ad revenue to make this worth your while to continue providing the service to webmasters. There are other boards out there including those provided by our hosting but the neat thing about the HH's boards is that it's a community of racing websites that helps tie us all together.

That would be a good way to incorporate the "go to first unread post" function that is the feature that I would like to have the most.

I'd like to be able to set the sort sequence as a preference or have the forum save the last sequence and use that the next time I access the forum.

That's like saying bikes and DISNEYLAND are for kids only, If you don't like the video game pages DON'T GO ON THEM Ebenezer, pretty simple concept .A REAL RACE CAR FAN embraces those games whether it be kids or adults, why don't you go become a REAL POLITICIAN.
