Thanks for the refresher. I seem to remember him having a brief stint in the car with a relatively successful trip to the Nationals-------for the Destiny car. He seems to be the only driver who made that car fast----at least up until I saw Paul in it at Wilmot last year. I hope to see that team turn the corner.

He seemed to be the only driver to be the most consistent. Granted, part of 2015 Gravel was in the Roth car but his final stats that year were 0wins, 10 top 5's, 31 top 10's, 2 quick times, finished 9th in points. Paul McMahon in 2016 had 0 wins, 1 top 5, 18 top 10's, finished 10th in points. 2017 he had 0 wins, 3 top 5's, 18 top 10's, finished 13th in points and I believe he made the nationals A.
Jac had some good runs in it with the All Stars in 14', with a win or 2 but I would say they kind of under-achieved that year as well. Brandon Wimmer sat on the pole of the Kings Royal in 13' and finished 4th and I believe had some solid runs in it too running a true outlaw schedule. Lucas Wolfe finished the 13' year in that car. Out of all of those drivers I would say Gravel did the best. Not sure what the disconnect has been with that team but that is a pretty solid lineup of drivers that have had success previous to being in that car and after being in the car.

Gravel is off to a great start and I'm not taking anything from him, but to me this shows how great of a crew chief Philip Deitz is.
In the short time together with Carson they did very well, exceeding expectations in my book.
This year with Gravel it's the same story. Philip is the most underrated crew chief out there.

I couldn't agree more with this. Saw a video on twitter the other day of the JJR team washing the rig, and when I say team that is Phillip included. I feel like there aren't many crew chiefs out there that would do this, no job out of his pay grade. To me, this is how you LEAD a team! Wish nothing but the best for that team, no only becuase of Jason's legacy but they are all guys who work hard and do things the right way!!

I dont believe so. I think he raced Mini-Sprints or something of that sort but not sure he ever raced full sized. I could be wrong, can anyone back that up?
