Looks like from all indications Kevin Swindell will make a start back at the Chili Bowl . Whether you like him or his father , you have to give him so much credit for what he's done to come back from the injury at Knoxville in August . He is in my opinion one of most underated drivers out there . I personally would like to see him with a full time ride in NASCAR ,as this is where he wants to be .With this injury , his up coming marriage to Jordan , he has overcome so much . Can you imagine what the Chili Bowl will be like when he comes out , if he does make his next start there ......WOW ,it will be rockin . By the way if you've never attended the Chili Bowl it's something that should be on your bucket list . Please write to Kevin and give him your support regardless , thanks .

If my info is correct, Kevin will be participating in the 2016 Chili as a Car owner and has a driver for the # 39 !

Yup, he's putting Kevin Thomas Jr. behind the wheel.

The tweet I saw said that Kevin will be car owner of the 39S that KT JR will be piloting, but it will NOT be the car Kevin usually drives at the Chili Bowl. Someone asked him and his response was that his baby will wait for him.
Nice to see another quality driver entered. This also solves a problem for Sammy, if he was a single car team he would be required to use a 24 foot or less trailer and (I think) be parked along the north wall.

Chili bowl roster says Kevin will be racing in Thursday night qualifier.
We need more sprint car racing at our home track.

KT is trying ARCA this year, therefore no KK ride.

For his own sake, he should milk his injury more. Before his injury he was making less than 20% of what he is currently bringing in. With his Obamacare covering his medical cost, all of his pitty dollars go straight to fund his leisure life.
For the sake of all the injured drivers, maybe he should get back to racing. Then the King Foundation dollars can be better directed.
So what does a return to racing mean?.....8 to 10 races a year? Doesn't seem to make sense for him. He won't be racing at the Chili Bowl. He can't afford to race.

Kevin Swindell’s involvement in the 30th annual Chili Bowl Nationals Presented by General Tire will be in a different capacity in 2016.
Swindell, who has won the premier midget event four times, has teamed up with Bernie Stuebgen of Indy Race Parts to own a midget that will be piloted by Kevin Thomas Jr. on Jan. 12-16 at Tulsa Expo Raceway in Tulsa, Okla.
“I talked to KT prior if he was interested and he was on board so we started putting it together,” Swindell said. “It’s just like our (Swindell Motorsports) cars. The intent is to get it as close to our cars as we can. It’s the same chassis and same motor combination. It’s as close as we can get.”

To be clear, the newly formed team is not the same No. 39 Swindell Motorsports midget that Swindell has driven to a top-two finish each of the last six years at the Chili Bowl.
“It takes money to go racing,” he said. “Right now we’re just looking at running the Chili Bowl. If the opportunity presented itself to run some midget week races it’s something we might look into. I’m trying to look toward my future. I don’t know how good my ability will be in a race car. If I can return and be good that’s great. If not, it’s something I’d like to stay involved in.”
Thomas Jr. finished third in the USAC National Midget Series championship standings in 2015.
“He’s been really good in the sprint cars the last couple of years and he just spent a whole year with Keith Kunz getting acclimated to a midget,” Swindell said. “I’m sure he will do a great job.”

Walking independently at the Chili Bowl in itself would be a MAJOR accomplishment!

I don't have a horse or pony or dog in this race, but I do have an opinion on what you said. I, along with many others, who may or may not like his Father, may have looked at Kevin Swindell in the same way. It's only natural. Sammy Swindell's spawn, he must be an ass like his Dad blah, blah, or whatever your opinion is. You hear the hype about his old man, you hear the hype about Kevin, etc...etc..... You kind of lump the two together. If I was to be at a race where Kevin Swindell decided to come back to racing, you bet your ass that I would be on my feet and clapping and hootin' and hollerin' ONLY because of what he has gone through to get there. I resent the wording in your statement "WILL NOW BE RAMPANT SUPPORTERS" What he has gone through would not make me be a fan of his, but it would give me another reason to cheer for someone that puts there livelihood and or LIFE on the line for my general entertainment. I would not be a fan, but I would show my respect. I would be a 'RAMPANT SUPPORTER' of all the excrutiatingly hard work that he has put in to get where he is. I reserve the right to BOO drivers. I paid my admission. With that being said, I would NEVER, EVER wish harm upon those that I BOO.......

Maddog-couldn't have said it any better! I don't need to be told what to do in my seat when I pay for the seat. And, you can bet your ass the next race I am at that Kevin is at (racing or not) I will stand and applaud when his name is announced for what he has gone through-regardless of my thoughts on him prior to the accident.
On another note-look for me on the tube Sunday night at the UC. Got my son tickets for Christmas to Hawks vs. Senators. We are 4 rows behind the penalty box. (no I didn't win the lottery-someone cut me a deal for face value!) Hopefully they don't lay an egg like they have been doing on a regular basis lately!

interracing -- that seems like a pretty classless response.....I don't care if you like or dislike any racer, that is totally classless.
Get well soon Kevin, but don't do anything rash that could take your ability to walk permanently. Listen to your Doctors.

Thanks for the back up sarge. I will look for you for sure. I should be ramping up my Hawk watchin because my football team is laying that proverbial egg you are talking about and their playoff season should be a short one.
