The reason the car count is down in my opinion has to do with the WoO rules.  To race that event you have to join the WoO's at a cost of $350.  You have to run their tires.  My best guess for the whole weekend tires would cost you $2,000. Then you have to install king pin tethers.  I think those are $300-400 bucks.   So before you even buy your pit passes your into that weekend about $3,000.  Not alot of money, but to some it is!

Theres less than 20 regular touring outlaws currently.  I'm not sure how many there were back in the day, but my guess is no more than 35-40.  So to get your car count up to 100, you need a bunch of locals!

410 racing as a whole is down in California.  Alot more 360's now.  It would seem to me a highest finishing 360 purse of $2,500 would create a race within a race and bring a bunch of locals out.

I'm not sure if thats the reason the purse is down or not.  I think it used to be $50,000 to win the Saturday night race.

I'm sure operators face alot of other costs they didnt face back in the 80-90's too.  Insurance probably being a biggie.  I would agree the purse it too low at most tracks.  These cars arent cheap, and without sprint cars showing up to race on Friday nights, there is no show.

Does anyone know what a seat in the grandstands used to cost?  I think it was $45 for Saturday this year.  Not alot of families are going to shell out that kind of money to go watch sprint cars.

Just my 2 cents!
