Bobby Allen won the Nationals because Mark Kinser's engine blew. I was there.

I thought Sammy's oil leak helped Bobby win as well.

Thank you fiXXXer....you feel about it like I do. So.....

I think we need a better thread....a thread that asks WHY the All Stars have not won at Williamsgrove....instead of just saying how great the POSSE is......

There is no doubt that PA sprint car racing is stout. Kenny Weld was proving that in the Weikert car at Knoxville.....Bobby Allen won the Nationals...Doug Wolfgang in the Weikert car as well.....And many others throughout the years.

But why? I think it is obvious that the big tracks in PA require horsepower and guys who race there every week have it figured out. I mean, why all of the big blocks years ago? Because of the big tracks.....And I think this has helped the PA guys do well at Knoxville.....

However, I don't remember PA guys dominating at Eldora....Ohio's big track. Ohio has mostly smaller tracks that require some finesse...

Is it any wonder then, that the All Stars, who in many cases have underfunded teams, and race more often on the smaller tracks......struggle on big horsepower tracks? Tracks where the weekly guys, in their own backyard, have been doing it for 40-50 years?

Exactly. When our guys go over to Ohio on their turf, they're capable of doing well as Ryan Smith just proved BUT, its a completely different story. They don't dominate like they do here at home against those guys when they're on a slick bullring like Fremont or Attica.

Probably should not have started this thread..lol... I have all the respect in the world for the Posse drivers and realize it is the toughest region in the world when it comes to local sprint car racing... They by far are the toughest tracks and drivers for the Outlaws or any other series to beat on their home turf... Living 20 minutes from Eldora I am lucky to see great sprint car racing...I was there when Kreitz won the Kings Royal and I enjoy when Pa. drivers show up like Marks and Detrich did last year...I don't keep track of their results I am just glad I got to see them race...The All Stars may be 0-29 at the Grove but you have 44 cars at Port Royal tonight and I would assume most Posse fans are happy about that!!

Actually, if you want this Posse fans opinion, Knoxville has the most talented weekly field anywhere right now.

Bobby Allen was a full time Outlaw from 1978 to 1990.  In 1989 he raced only about 60% of the WoO shows, but went back full time in 1990.  Part time in 91 and 92.  And off the tour in 93.

Wolfgang = Posse       is like       Kinser & Swindell = NSL     they have run 100% of all NSL shows ever after all.

However, I live in Denver & I've been sick of Bronco fans for years.....

C'mon revjimk how can you live in Denver and not be a Bronco Fan!!! I lived in Greeley for a few years where they had Summer Camp 2 blocks from my house at UNC, Moved back to Iowa the year Elway took the helm. I still bleed Orange & Blue and always will. As far as the Posse Post, I too get sick of the chest thumping but I am still a fan of many of the Posse Drivers and love it when they come to Iowa in August.

Agreed.  I don't know why people have to bash the pa drivers.  How about give them praise for the fact at 2 tracks with 410 tonight, we had 77 cars.  Where else in the country will you get 77 410 between two tracks?? Granted 14 are all stars but still.

We were sitting in the third turn stands....Mark Kinser's car came to a stop right in front of us. I remember him sitting there pounding on his steering wheel in frustration.  That's been almost 25 year ago, but wasn't Sammy's oil leak back into his cockpit a different year?

Nope.  Same year.  Steve K has problems in the beginning of the race (eventually his car quits) and Mark takes off and leads the first 15-18 laps.  Dead right on him banging on the steering wheel after the car gives up though.  After that Sammy and Scruffy have a battle while Swindell's car keeps spitting smoke.  In the end, Scruffy wins it.  This was the same year Wolfgang ran the gauntlet all the way from the D to finish 5th in the A.  It's on YouTube.  Brock Yates and Steve Evans have the call on American Sports Cavalcade.  I remember being about 7 and watching this when it first came out and being mad because I was Doug Wolfgang fan and he didn't win.

I met some posse fans the night the Kings Royal rained out. I saw them walk into a local bar, so I went over to talk to them. A great bunch of guys that love sprint car racing, and happen to be proud (rightfully so) of their local racers and tracks.

Yes,   Sammy had an oil leak.......but I don't take Bobby's win away from him because of Mark Kinser's problems or Sammy's problems....What caused Scruffy's motor to run strong all night?  What caused Timmy Shaffer's motor to go the distance when Donny's didn't? That was an Ohio car Tim was drving by the way......Wolfgang wasn't necessarily posse...but his car was for sure.....Pa cars have stout motors...that is what I am saying.....and guys who can drive 'em......And that is why the All Stars struggle at Williams Grove....in my opinion...

Haha.  No worries, man.  I think I've gone back and watched that Knoxville about 15 times, when Ive gotten bored.

Wolfgang doing the alphabet soup run is impressive. (Also on YouTube) I especially like how different restarts are now as compared to then.  The starts in 1990's definitely helped Wolfgang in his march.  Most restarts he got an extra 3/4 of a lap to pass guys.  That was the first race I ever saw from Knoxville and always wanted to go out after I saw that.  As of today I still have yet to get there.  Someday.

Denver fans are not "football fans", they're "Bronco fans".  Totally emotional, when they lose, its the refs fault, the other team cheated or played dirty, or they pick out one Broncos player to crucify... until Seahawks Superbowl slaughter, no more excuses...I first moved to Colorado in1977 when they played Dallas in SB, had $40 to my name & bet $20 on Dallas, dummies wouldn't even take the 6 points I offered, easy money. But I really got sick of them when they started worshipping Elway (AKA "Mr. Ed")

I've been a Worshington "Native Americans" fan since we moved to Virginia from NYC in 1960. They won a grand total of one game that year, last all white team, Next year they picked up Bobby Mitchell & got interesting & a bit competitive... followed them from crap thru the Joe Gibbs championship years & back to crapola now, had great hopes for RG3 until Mike Shanahan played him while injured, possibly ruining his career. I'm loyal!

Denver vs. Skins Superbowl in the 80s? I always watched Donkey games in the bar, for that one I stayed home & laughed my ass off....

car owners and drivers who race weekly in pa, are called the pa posse....they are tough competition against anyone who comes to race in central pa at their local/home tracks...what is hard to understand about this? who claims pa posse drivers are the best in the country or can travel across country and win at tracks they have little or no experence at?

I'll bet if you bothered to look, you would find Fred Rahmer and Lance Dewease on the knoxville win list. You would also find Dewease on the Oskaloosa win list(twice).
