I have heard friend who has raced many years and not sure if he has ever made the A main on his qualifying night say they spend over 10K to enjoy the week so even if they won they would likely not profit.
Would not surprise me if Sammy made more money than any driver or promotor last week.

Beat 250 of the best to say you made the A? And the 18" driller trophy! That trophy should be bigger than Rico. Now you have MavTv covering it and racinboys getting $25 a nite. Time to put some of that revenue back to the racers that got it there. 10K is a joke.

Ok lets try this if the othet question is so dumb. How.much does Hahn pay to rent the building, and build the track? Another dumb question is...does the seating stay put or not? He has some $$$$$ in this before anybody shows up and if he's making money on this well good deal!! After all he's the one who has got this thing to where it is. Edwards also needs some credit as well. Now.....I wonder what the total purse is?

I could be wrong (and very possily am) but I have been told that it doesn't pay anything to 'start' the A main....just the chance to say you 'made the A at the Chili Bowl" and get to race for the $10,000 winner's share and that coveted Golden Driller.

Who ever told you this is smoking to much weed. Do you really think that all the money from grandstand seats went to the promoter and only $10,000 was paid in purse. Do you think the racers would show up for such an event? Racers are not that dumb. I hope you were just kidding. Please tell me so.

What is the payout for the Chili Bowl?
|
A real open wheel racer won the Chilli Bowl and for him to say it was his biggest win to him it is priceless.Robin Millers write up on Clausen should be read as it was good and told it like it is for many top racers that have the talent but things just dont work out and they continue to race open wheel.Racers like Bell and Larsen are on their way to the top level as their talent ,youth ,looks, and their poise are a sponsers dream.S.Kinser,Swindell,Mark Kinser,Dollansky each got a shot and came back not because of talent, just wasnt their deal. The Indy thing is about money and Nascar is about marketability. The days of Hewitt,Wolfgang,Opperman,Trickle and people that werent afraid to say what they thought and back it up are long gone and if the real racers could run Indy the lineup would be a lot easier to read and more names we have heard of before. There is not another race that has that many good racers that seem to be having fun and its not about the money. The no weight rule take out some of the best like Schatz and Kinser who could win on talent. The timing of the Chiili Bowl also lets guys like Kane and Jac and Tony if healthy compete as theres not much happening unless you can go to Austalia or late model race in Arizona.I would hate to guess the amount of money it takes to rent the Expo center plus the all the track building contracters. The real winners are the fans plus the millions of dollars it brings to Tulsa.

We went out for the first time and had a blast, got talking to a local and he said the tulsa shootout the week before covers most of the cost of the building ( pretty sure he said it was over 900 cars). Check out the Top Row Rowdes on facebook, they posted a video of the building less than 24 hrs after the a-main and it was already pretty empty. All the grandstands are temporary.

Somebody mentioned bleachers.... the turn 3-4 seats belong to the building, and they pretty much stay there all year.... the backstretch bleachers and most of the front stretch bleachers are brought in for the races and then leave when they are over. At one point the bleachers from Creek County Speedway were dis assembled and brought to the Expo center each year. A few years ago Emmit decided that still wasn't enough seats and has made arrangements to have more in there...and of course it costs to have them there.
I wonder how much gets spent on advertising... There are ads in every racing publication for months leading up to the race...I would think that would be kind of a waste. I doubt that theres anybody reading Sprintcar and Midget magazine who doesn't already know the who what when and where of the Chilibowl
Every car that takes a green flag in a qualifying night feature gets a minimum of 100 bucks....and every car that starts a feature on Saturday gets 100 bucks...
I'm pretty sure 24th in the Saturday night A pays $1,000...
I've been told that last place in a qualifying night A pays $250 by a guy who made the Thursday night A a few years ago.
Does Emmit make money....of course he does.
Could he make it a 50 grand to win race and still come out ahead....probably...
Is there extra expense in this race compared to a race at an existing track.... we have no idea how astronomical that amount is...we also know that most tracks need every possible penny of revenue, especially concessions, to get by....Emmit doesn't make a damn dime off concessions.... I will promise you that after the building is paid for Emmit still has to buy a huge property damage policy and spectator liability policy listing the building and the sponsors as the insured. No way does a huge company put there signs all over that place without knowing there is protection from all the ambulance chasers. I have no doubt that policy is a 5 digit amount.
I am always amazed by how many people in this game think every promoter is making a killing every time they open the gate..... trust me, you can't count heads at a race, multiply by 20 bucks, and figure out how much profit there is.
Loose is when you hit the wall with the rear of the
car, tight is when you hit the wall with the front of
the car. Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall and
torque is how far you move the wall.

I suppose there is some kind of pay roll to come up with. Emmit's getting a little old to do it all himself

Well smartazz....did you miss the part where I said I 'could be wrong, and probably am'? I didn't say "This is what I know" because truthfully I don't. What I can tell you is this.....this subject comes up every year, and every year, it seems mum is the word. Why is that? It's no secret what any other race pays to start, so there's something to it....regardless of what it pays, it's the most entertaining 5 days of racing I've ever been to.

While we don't see an advertised payout listed on every message board in the world, I don't think it's accurate to say "Mums the word"...
I am sure that if you sent in your entry and shot an email to the organizers asking what to expect for payout I bet you would get an answer. When you go to the payout room after a night of racing down there you can see the payout sheet on the table with all the positions and amounts listed. You even have to sign a sheet to confirm you collected "X" amount and you are going to see plenty of other names and amounts on that same sheet.
Just because there isn't a Chilibowl representative scouting the boards replying to every comment or question about the event doesn't mean they are trying to keep everything top secret. And very few drivers, especially the bigger names, ever post anything on message boards anymore because they always end up in a no win situation. Plenty of those guys could tell you how much they were paid each year for whatever place they finished, but don't expect them to reply to threads on here. As soon as some guy answers how much he got paid there will be hundreds of people replying calling him a dirty driver, a rich kid who never earned his success, or calling him an idiot for spending so much time and money going to a race that only pays 10 grand to win.

None of it matters. All I do know is that in 355 days 4 hours and 55 minutes I get yo do it all over again. I drove 3005.7 miles round trip and can't wait to do it again.
We need more sprint car racing at our home track.
