If they actually race with these lap times, it will be pathetic.

150 laps with the best in the business, pathetic you say, bah humbug dude...look outside your box maybe...

Ascot was the greatest of all time..

West Capital wasn't half bad either..

Life is good...

surprised they didn't reduce the weight rule & let them run late model style suspension (jacobs ladder).

I said a long time ago on here, when this race was first announced, that this would be a glorified street stock race (to which  a few slammed me for), but tell me I was wrong! Austin Dillon said the same on Speed tonight.

But that said, I'll reserve my final judgement until after the heats tomorrow. I think Speed is doing a good job with it - heard many mentions of Sprint cars and the 4 Crown. Someone tell Mikey Waltrip Eldora doesn't run every Sat night!

It's no so bad I guess.

A glorified street stock race hell, a good  street stock would murder these guys lmao!!  The street stock track record is 18.90's these truck are no where near that

It's probably similar to the Late Models!!???

They are a lot slower than the late models, which have turned laps in the upper 14 sec. range.

Really you guys?  Maybe thay shouldn't do anything different.Maybe they should just go back to their plain Jane mile and a quarter cookie cutter track on Saturday afternoon, so nobody can bitch about how slow they are. So nobody has to "waste their time" watching a bunch of slow ass trucks on some worn out dry slick pos dusty track. Everybody get back in your box, close the lid and don't come out until it's over. The rest of us will watch and enjoy something different happening while your sleeping. But, remember, when you wake up on Thursday, don't even ask how it went, I'm not gonna tell ya!

Hey we agree on something.

Why is most people on hoseheads always have to be negative about everything. If you don't like it, shut up and don't watch or comment about it. I give much props to Eldora for trying something new and different. Was out there last night and going tonight, yeah it was slow, but the top 12 to 15 guys looked smooth going around the place, hope to see some good racing tonight. If I wanted to go to see speed I would go out and watch a WoO race. Instead of complaining about Eldora doing something different, how about people show a little support! Lord knows dirt tracks need it these days!

Some of these replies are pretty funny.

Here is the deal. They are nascar trucks! Novel huh?  They are not dirt late models, they are not sprint cars. That is why they do not have jacobs ladders and torsion bars and wings and wedge bodies, else they would be late models or sprint cars.  They are not designed at all for this track, they are mandated to stay (basically) as they were for asphalt racing.

Take what you have and race it on dirt.

They are what they are, and I for one love racing that requires deftness of throttle control and the skill level required to do so. I think it will be a nail biter and a great show.

PS: I love sprinters too, but I think this is a great idea and we all ought to be thankful we're able to see it and if you are un interested, change the channel, you have options.

As you were.

You guys make a good point. I am glad that the focus of the racing world is on a dirt track tonight. We all should hope that this is a success, as it can only benefit our sport.  Like I said last night, it seems like Speed is giving dirt track racing respect.

I will watch tonight with an open mind. Just let the dogs out this morning....it is awesome outside, so you guys should have cool weather for the race. To those who are going, have fun.......and root for a dirt guy to win!

Yeah I know i like sprinters better BUT hopefully those nascar boys get their buts kick by a non nascar  regular  AND i DONT mean Larson; some one like Bloomquist or some one else !

Bloomquist is like a crafty old fox with those heavy cars in the long races.  These things are slower than the Late Models, like one of the drivers said last night it handles more like a Street Stock than a Late Model.  It should be a more entertaining Wednesday night than most.  They're not rockets like the Sprints but it's all good.  wink

19-second laps vs. low 13's? LMAO, I'll stick to watching cars that belong on dirt.

I hate to break this to you but some of the revered legends of Sprint Car racing never turned laps faster than these trucks.  Forget these 13 second per lap rockets for a moment, Sprint Cars haven't always been like what we see today.  The first non-wing cars without roll cages I watched as a kid in the late 50's and early 60's ran about the same speed as the trucks.  We didn't know the difference, it was still entertaining.

I totally agree, if you weren't there, maybe you shouldn't comment,  it was not dusty, it's a new venue, nice crowd for practice, respectful crowd, and although I have been to Eldora many times, we walked around to the north side of the facility, and it's an awesome place, nice displays, very clean, lots of concrete to walk on, and who did we see sitting in the crowd, Earl and Bernice.  I'm looking forward to watching it tonite on TV

I don't mind a little mud in my beer but I'm not interested in 'dust bowl' racing. Even if it results in more passing it doesn't really matter because you can't see it. Water the track, remove the windshields, replace them with rock screens and use visor tearoffs  -  like real dirt track racing.

I agree.  If that is what is keeping them from throwing a little more water on the track, your suggestion is perfect.  Oh, wait.  maybe the sponsorship on the cars, er trucks will get mudded up and then you won't be able to see them.

I'd like them to be a little more lenient on throwing the caution.  If there is a spin, let em get it started and get going again. The speeds are not there to throw the yellow right away, like NASCAR at Bristol...Just a thought.

I'm all for trying new stuff and i think this was a neat concept I just wish sit wasn't at the expense of that 10k to win 50 lap USAC show they ran on this weekend last year for this donkey show. Remember when the inside of the frontsretch wall had the words painted......'Eldora - Home of the Sprint'?

Please sing with me a little Simon & Garfunkel.

And here's to you Earl Baltes.....

Sprint car fans love you more than you will know (wo,wo,wo)

Come back please, Earl Baltes.....

Eldora holds a place for those who race (hey hey, hey)

Where have you gone, Earl Baltes.....

Sprint car fans turn their lonely eyes to you (woo, woo, woo)

Whats that you say, Earl Baltes.....

Sprint car racings' left and gone away.....(hey,hey,hey.......

It's going to be good...

I was there last night, and watching Austin Dillon and Kyle Larson in that final practice was proof.  Both Blaney's, Schrader, Ty Dillon, and Newman were all fast.  It should be a good show

It would be a much better race with some moisture in the dirt. I can't get excited watching these guys going 80 miles an hour around the track!
