All I'm sayin' is I remember how sad I was when Richard Petty retired after not winning a race for 8 years. I was just a kid and I remember how bummed out I was that he was going out on a losing streak.

He's an almost 60 year old smoker who still races at an amazing level. I hope when I'm 60 I can still pee without straining. I'd be flippin ecstatic!!!
More weight, more regulation, more similarity in the
cars.... that will ensure plenty of thrills for years
to come. Only the most average talent behind the
wheel will be needed with such awesome equipment on
the track!

I believe hes not done yet i feel it's their motor program, cuz both him and kraig are not doin well. Last year on winged nation he mentioned they had motor issues the second half of the year. So instead of getting a new motor supplier he feels obligated to use Gerkin's motors because of their friendship, where I see he is an amazing crew chief but they need to worry about setups and etc and not worry about the motors. Then i believe they'll be back in the hunt for a championship.

Hang it up bud

He'll always be The King in sprints, even if he hangs it up. But don't judge his career by his weekend at this POS track Thunder Bowl. I understand your frustration though, as I am too. Keep the support and tides will change.

He is and will always be The King. His bad luck continues though. He and Madsen flipped just a little bit ago.

My guess is that these "King Haters" never had a bad day at work...
Opinions may vary...

And JMr.Race for the win. Numbers don't lie, and the "None of you keyboard racers could carry Steve's helmet bag" comment is just plain truth. You sir, are a gentleman and a scholar!
And for anyone trashes him - you know what, if the King never wins another race...I'll keep forking over my hard earned ticket money as long as he's around, every chance I get. I can't imagine this sport without them, none of us can - really, and you probably don't want to.

I doubt Kinser will win another championship but he will win his fare share of A Main's, maybe a big race or two. He is better now then most people will ever be.
Long live the King!!

Less than 3 years ago he wins his 7th Kings Royal. Amazing how devoted some so called fans are!! He don't need to EVER win another race to prove a Damn thing to anyone reading these boards.

Jack jaw for the sake of jacking jaw..........
Steve Kinser is Steve Kinser, the most successful sprint car racer in history. He was holding his concentration/focus at a near unbeatable level for a length of time that no one in any damned sport can possibly match.
Flipping twice in one night…..probably the first time that has ever happened (yea right........)
A million callused ass critiques. Criticizing for the sake of seeing themselves write an opinion.
Tell you what, you got enough BALLS???......criticize Steve Kinser to his face............. you know the late 50s something, cigarette smoking...........20 time World of Outlaw champion………..Indiana state wrestling champion………..I just bet you with your opinions will probably pee in your little panties at the thought. I am pretty damned sure he can be found in California this weekend and if you wait long enough he will probably be racing somewhere close to you for a long time to come (if we're all lucky).

I hope all you naysers have to eat those words. I wouldn't say he is over the hill just yet.

I'm 61 1/2 years young and no amount of optimism regarding past accomplishments could turn the clock back for me. No matter how many positive things anyone says about me my back will hurt, my hearing and eyesight suck, my reflexes aren't half what they used to be and I prefer a recliner to traveling the country competing against the young guys. I hope Steve can hang in there and things improve because when he does well all of us old gray haired guys puff our chests out and walk a little taller. We know first hand how much it hurts to drag it out of bed in the morning at our age. Can't beat that aging process.

He is more likely to end up Posse like Mcmahan, Lasoski, Pittman, etc...

Ha! When you not only run with the big dogs for as long as Stever has and you're also the leader of the pack, you don't retire to play with the one's who couldn't keep up.
Half the lies they tell about me aren't true.

Well put, Stan, and absolutely correct.
No matter how many big events you've won, you can't keep beating Father Time forever.
The thing I worry about is that at my age I've seen too many drivers who stayed too long, only to end up hurt - or worse. When the time comes that Steve decides to hang it up, I just want him to go out on top. Where he's been for so long.

He'll probably figure things out in a few weeks and win a bunch of races and we'll look back and wonder why we had this conversation.

As a lifelong Sammy fan I started to cheer (inside) for Steve during my final year of chasing sprints from coast tocoast, 2005. This was also Steve's last Championship, to date. Night after night he exited the car sweaty and worn out but often in the top 3 while I noticed all the younger guys for the most part barely broke a sweat. He busted it, night after night with the highlight being in Montana (if my fading memory is right). On a horrible track that had a half dozen leaders crash out, Steve started about 17th and won the dang race, worst cowboy track I have ever seen and I've seen hundreds. I remember him saying something along the lines of, 'I was just gonna run around for a few laps, pull in and save my equipment, but guys kept crashing and I kept moving forward'. It may have been the single greatest drive in the 500 plus Outlaw shows I have seen and right there and then I became a big fan, albeit to myself, lol.
When a man has achieved what Steve has in this sport and has the desire that few have ever had he and only he will decide when it ends. Heck, just think if he announced before the season, whichever it may be, that it will be his last. How many THOUSANDS of extra shirts would they need for his trailer that year? It's not Steve's style to promote like this but I hope he does and many thousands of fans coast to coast feel the same way.
I'll never forget what the late Dale Earnhardt once said at an IROC drivers meeting many years ago when Steve walked into the tent, "Kinser and I are here, may as well start the meeting"..... If that doesn't sum it up, nothing ever will....

I can't get tears in my eyes for a guy that tried to destroy the WoO not once, but twice. Oh yeah, "he was trying to help". Yeah, all race drivers think they can run a series better than Ted Johnson could. Ted wasn't a perfect man but at least he knew who buttered his bread, the drivers and vice versa. There was no bigger Kinser fan than me but that 2nd time he tried to destroy my favorite race series, that was it for me. Still like the diecast's I have of his.
Let him run at the back of the pack, let the hero worshippers make excuses. Yeah, its the motors. Personally, I think it's the paint job. Not aerodynamic enough.
XXX? I thought Triple X was a wrestler

I once predicted Steve would retire by 1992. I got my calculations from watching the career lengths of other great drivers, on average , at his level of driving. I must have missed something.
How wrong was I!!!!
