AJ and Mario were Indy Car racers that raced a little NASCAR. Ken Schrader raced every kind of car in his early days not mostly Sprint Cars. Of course they all had something to do with it but I still think Steve Kinsers IROC win helped get things going, it certainly helped him get the Berntein ride.

Once she goes out and wins some races she will get my respect as a professional race car driver. She has 1 Indy car win and a Daytona 500 pole but does that mean I have to bow down to her? Absolutely not. I have no Indy car wins and 0 Daytona polls. But thats fine. Im an engineer, not a race car driver. People criticizing her is the same as people yelling at the TV because their QB just threw an interception. Just because we don't play that sport doesnt mean we cannot criticize someone for not doing their job. Not sure if everyone is aware, but in any competitive sport the main objective is to win and Danica just hasn't done that on the highest level. I honestly hope she proves me wrong and wins some races. If she goes out and wins a couple of legit races, I will be the first one to stand up and give her a hand...
Real race cars don't have fenders...

All the hate for her is completely understandable. She won the pole at a track that doesn't mean shit where you start. She sucks and won't win any races in the cup series.

Yesterday meant nothing... those whole point for Danica and Gordon was not to get caught up in a wreck.
This is perfect marketing for NASCAR, even we dirt track lovers talk about it daily.
Many of us will watch on Sunday to see how she does...maybe several million more than normal just to see if she fails. Who wins? NASCAR

immediately after talking to the winner...the TV talking heads cut away to interview mid pack Danica...taking the pressure off the previous T-Shirt King (Earnhardt) who used to be in this position - forced come up with something positive to say after a crappy run.
I heard her say she would be stopping by Harvick's "bus" to see how he does it.
getting involved in this media mess is worse than puching Sammy's wing - Poor Ricky...

How can ya say that,when Steve tried in the Quaker State car Kenny B was on his way out.But keep the sponser for his new Sprint car team.In the IRoc series when all the cars are equal aginst the best drivers in all the series,didn't he win Taladaga.Like to see what they could have done with the same money shes got.Sammy didn't to bad on his Budget also.Don't have any of their shirts can't say I'm a fan but they put on a hell of a show I've been blessed and watch for years

I can say that because they're back running Sprint Cars. I'm sure that no matter how much they enjoyed running Sprints they've have liked the kind of income they could have had in Cup. You're reading more into my post than I said. I never said that I didn't like watching them, only that they never achieved the success that Danica has in pavement racing. Her record is not finished so she can only add to her accomplishments in that form of racing.

Maybe so but Danica finished what, 3rd or 4th at Indy and won a race in that series. You'd think I blasphemed the Lord or something they way folks on here get riled up about this form of entertainment we call racing.

I never said she didnt have any talent. She obviously had to have some sort of talent to get to this level. But so did everyone else racing a car every Sunday.

This evening my wife was watching a silly show called OMG insider. Hollywood garbage. Lo and behold they had Danica on it and asked her how her and her boyfriend get along on the track and off. This show has nothing to do with racing but there she was. The hype is over rated and so is she. She was given great equipment and can drive at speed, that is why she is on the pole at a track where all you have to do is hold it to the floor. She will be a train wreck most of the season. Nascar is cashing in on her big time and will oversaturate the public with it.

Not sure where this topic is going,but hears my opinion u cant compare yesterdays racers against todays racers,as far as tony stewart anything he touches is gold,he didnt turn kraig kinser,paul mcmahan,into gold,aslo tony is having a hard time with funding,danica supplied go daddy,as far as winning she may win a rain shortened race like logano,or a race that has a couple of big wrecks that takes 90% of the field out,she will not win at bristol,darlington,phoenix and i will bet she will lose the draft at daytona and even with stewart,hendrick team mates she will not win,i doubt anyone is going to pull over and let her win,most racers want to win,because 2nd place is the first loser,and i dont see that changing anytime soon.

That makes about as much sense as comparing Elvis to Pavarati!
I would be the last person to stick up for DANICKY but what she did was smart. She's starting on the pole Sunday so why risk tearing up equipment? Besides, Jeffy-Poo will probably smoke her on the start!

Danica was a very average player in a very average league (IRL). I heard on tv the other day Daytona has great seats still available for this years 500. You dont suppose NASCAR give her a different plate than everybody else so they could sell some extra tickets??? Im sorry but she isnt that good!! I have seen chicks who could drive sprints and midgets-----(Denise Bennett could drive a midget)!!
