My favorite all time team was the 1989 DP Motorsports 8D with Wolfie, Duece, and Robert Hubbard.

Isn't that the year that Kinser, Sammy and Wolfie were running with that other sprint group, who's name currently escapes me? USA or something like that.
|
Yeah, that was the year Steve, Sammy, and Mark Kinser all ran with the short lived United Sprint Association (USA). Started, I believe, by Sammy's car owner Harold Annett.
Bobby also won the Royal that year, at which Steve and Sammy were both in attendence for. So no matter how you slice it, the Casey Luna car was great that year.
"They'll learn."

As we all know drivers, cars, owners, crew members and sponsors are always changing year by year in sprint car racing. Just wondering what was everyones favorite team at any given era?
Mine was the 4m team of 2002 thru 2004. Scott Chilcutt owner, Shane Stewart driver and Rob Hart as crew chief. They were all very cool people, would talk to anyone but most importantly they would show up anywhere and be a threat to win. They would race anything, 360, 410, WoO show, ASCS show, All Star show and local shows.

Was that the same team Micheal Dupee drove for out of Edmond.Ok.

Okay,I could put down 15 teams but number one to me was a terror, the Mickey Banas #69 and the 69X with drivers Gus Linder and Steve Unger, second and from the same area kinda' Bobby Adamson and Wilbur Hawthorne and Billy Anderson wrenching, third but not least the Vise Grip 20 with Bob Trostle and Mr. Doug Wolfgang and all the trouble they had with the damn brakes all thru Florida that year and I think it was June that year they finally junked the whole system and put new everything into the brakes, the weedburner car was what I called it. One more,Doug and Joanne Howells and whoever they put in the seat, that car was a runner,Finally,a short lived group was " The Desperado" Eddie Leavitt and the Keith Barker Chevy from Pittsburg,Ks. they showed up a lot of places and had a lot of fun,but they really ran that hauler as I said they were everywhere for awhile. Now,who was the CRA team that ran the Calif. Fair at El Centro on Thursday,Okla. City on Saturday afternoon and Williams Grove,on Sunday Afternoon, same crew same car, same hauler the whole way.Who was that group, all I remember was, I think it was ? "Bob Coulter",could be wrong or was it the JFK team, but it was a CRA team the driver,I don't remember. How many years did that orange Ansen Offy sit in that bar off the first turn at "The Grove" 10,12 years anyway huh, remember that?

Bobby Davis, Jr driving the Casey Luna Ford. The car was referred to as "The Penalty Box" early on for its revolving door of drivers, but Bobby took it to a WoO championship in 1989.

I'd say the key to that deal was Kenny Woodruff, and I'm certainly not alone with that thought. They also won the Kings Royal that year.
Half the lies they tell about me aren't true.

Stevie Smith always had a great bunch of guys on his crew back in the Hamilton 77 and the Motter 71M days. Some if the same guys were with him for years.
Here in Knoxville Breezy Whitworth had a great crew and family. Always fun in the 96 pit.

Yup that is the same team, Michael Dupuy was the guys name. They never did as much traveling and hitting all kinds of shows until Shane was in the seat besides the ASCS tour.

I was on Breezy's crew from 1998 until he retired and we always had a blast no matter how we did on the track! The whole Whitworth family always treated me like family, and we remain great friends to this day.

Keith Kauffman/Bob Weikert especially in the early 1980s. They ran together all of 1993, which was the year Keith finished 3rd in the first ever Historical Big One at Eldora. He started 12th and he considers that is biggest disappointment because he had the fastest car. I wasn't there, but a friend of mine who is not a KK fan told me that if that race would have gone just a little longer Kauffman would have won it.
Keith's best years were really with Al Hamilton because he won about 80 races in the #77 and also beat the Outlaws at Hagerstown, Williams Grove, Orange County (NY), and Knoxville in less than three years ... but those early Kauffman/Weikert years were pretty good in their own right too!! It doesn't hurt that I also think Bob Weikert is the best car owner ever!

The team that sticks out in my mind was the combination of Pancho Carter and Steve Stapp. Fashionably late to the race track, but always super fast when the helmet got strapped on
