I visit here infrequently exactly because of these kinds of mindless comments in support of behavior which is at least boorish and rude, and at its worst unamerican and subtlely racist. It would behoove many of the commentators to get news from a wider spectrum, read a few history books, the Constitution and yes for some of you bible carryin' good people; try reading it completely. Finally, try to understand things in there full context, although I know Rush Limblow puts them into nice, short, simple soundbites you can understand.

I was never a NASCAR fan, but for sure now will never spend a dime on anything directly associated with their label.

I must admit that I've become some what immune to some the goings on here, and though as some of you know first hand, I don't mind a rousing debate at times. I've found that the fox and Rush bunch seemed to have something amiss, and no amount of common sense with make a damn bit of difference to them. Maybe this study is part of their problem, but only part. I think it must be in their DNA LOL

A new Fairleigh Dickinson PublicMind Poll finds that the Sunday morning political shows on television "do the most to help people learn about current events, while some outlets, especially Fox News, lead people to be even less informed than those who they don't watch any news at all."..http://www.dailykos.com/story/2011/11/21/1038766/-New-public-study:-Watching-Fox-News-makes-you-dumber

It's well known that advanced degrees in "Education" are most easily awarded, and hardly equal to the traditional degrees in the Sciences. All real tenured college professors with a Doctorate could call themselves "Doctor", but do they ? No, only one of the blowhard uppity Washington crowd has the nerve to attach that handle to their name to try to impress the voters.

I work at a large community College here in AZ my friend, Yavapai.. You don't seem to know pucky about what it's like at any level of education, not alone a community College. To say they are just a extended high school shows just how ignorant you are!

..http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yavapai_College...Median Age: 30

Yavapai College is a community college located in Yavapai County, Arizona. The main Campus is in Prescott, with locations in Clarkdale, Prescott Valley, Chino Valley, and Sedona.

I attended a community college. Anytime that you'd like to match wits just let me know. It's painfully obvious that your english skills are lacking. My first-year english comp. professor would have spanked you and sent you back to 8th grade based on that "paragraph" alone.

Your mileage may vary, but your personal experiences must have been way, way, way, different than mine if you are arguing that college profs who have earned a doctoral degree don't refer to themselves as "Doctor." I have a business degree from a state school here in eastern Pensylvania, and it was my experience that professors with a doctoral degree always referred to themselves that way. I actually had a couple profs that were kinda obnoxious about it and corrected any student in class who mistakenly refered to them as "Mr./Mrs." that the proper term is "Doctor" and that is how students should address them. Hell, even the Superintendent at our local school district in town makes a big deal about his proper title being "Doctor."

The funny thing about both the NASCAR race and this thread is that it is people with less education than the average American talking down about people with more education than the average American. Nationally, about 30 percent of the population holds at least a bachelor's degree. Growing up around racing and being around it my whole life, I would put that number at 10 percent or less of race fans/participants.

I will probably get severely flamed for this, but the NASCAR crowd did nothing to refute the stereotype that race fans as a whole are uneducated hillbillies. People can argue all they want about the strides racing has made in recent decades, but that is still the stereotype of racers and race fans among non-fans.

I have to laugh at all the Kool-Aide drinking rednecks who booed at the first lady while spending their trailer rent to go see a NAPCAR race that's being ran by numerous millionaires. Then they go home and bitch about the 99 percenters protesting, when they're around the 99.89% mark....Stupidity should be a crime.....And if it was, most of the people in this thread would be in jail.

Hawker

I would think you could have included a few more insults in your post like "racist" "hillbillies" , but I guess the people like Warren Buffet $50 billion, Bill Gates $50 billion George Soros $20 billion John Kerry $600 million, Nancy Pelosi $50 million would rather you not mention how hard they worked to amass the money they hoard. While you laugh at the people that live in a "trailer" think about those people that laugh at you, "stupidity" might be something you reconsider.

"racist" works for me Grady and trust me, I remember who made and how many openly blatant racist remarks were made on this forum during our election.

I can not argue with that point and its to bad that some people will look at skin color and have a bias, white, black, brown, red, yellow all people should be treated the same. However to brand people dumb, racist, hillbillie, or any other insulting term just because you do not agee with their politics is wrong.

I might get laughed at but I'm thinking about voting for Herman Cain & I do believe he's blacker than OBAMA & I'm married to a hillbilly. I DO NOT live it a trailer although I have. I'm really tired of career politicians. They say change is good. How is that working out for us every 4 or 8 yrs. Like this union bullshit that is going on, Put enough people back to work paying taxes & that would be a NON ISSUE.

My favorite Cain remark, and there are many to choose from, is when he said we needed to keep a eye on China because they might be developing a atomic bomb.

I'm just going by the image that they portray...I've never seen a rebel flag used as a curtain on Bill Gates house. But I've damn sure seen them on the window of one bedroom of a mobile home and a Dale Sr. used on the one next to it. As Forrest Gump's mama said "Stupid is, as stupid does".

you win the "post of the day" award here singlefile. so well put and so true.

we are a country of great diversity or better known as "the have's" and the "have not's". the people that have got that way through hard work rather they are educated or not, dedication and perseverance in what they believe in. the have not's may not be educated due to circumstances beyond and out of their control. but, as life goes on their decisions compute their future. the design to boo the first lady is of their own choosing which closely correlates to their personal belief system and or intelligence quota. but, that is life as we see it

i am hoping that we all have a very happy thanksgiving in spite of our personal belief systems. give thanks for something today....

for what it's worth, the people who were booing were exercising their right to free speech. we have the right in this country to express our opinions and displeasure with our government. those people were taking the opportunity to voice their opinion to official representatives of this country. for many if not most, this was the only time they would be face to face with representatives that carry as high a rank as those do. so it seems some people took advantage of an opportunity to show their displeasure with the people running the government. that is their right. you may or may not agree with their opinions, but if you fail to stand up for their right of expression, no matter the forum, you run the risk of your rights not being accepted when you choose to exercise them.

it seems like people only make a big deal when it is those on the right expressing their opinions in such ways, while people on the left do not seem to draw the same criticism. we should all have the same rights of expression.

some of you say it was not the time or place, well opportunity can not always pick it's time and place. some people took an opportunity to send a message to their government. that is their right.

i hope you are allowed to use your right to express your self, when you feel it warranted, without being ridiculed

Thank You! I have actually responded to this post twice, but I chose to erase both responses because I do not want to respond to many on this post out of frustration or anger. However, I find it curious that the general conclusion is that if you choose to oppose Obama and express it in any fashion, you must be uneducated. Well it is what it is I guess, but it is wrong. Everyone on the other side of the isle applauded the throwing of a shoe at President Bush. So again, it is what it is. It is a good thing that folks think that they can express their frustration or displeasure with this government, or any for that matter, in any way, shape, or form that they choose today!!!!

Let me just clarify one thing. What I wrote above was that he booing of the First Lady did nothing to counter the stereotype that race fans are uneducated hillbillies. I didn't even really think that was any kind of a controversial comment. Seems like people are getting all twisted up over that comment, but my experiences are that non fans still view race fans as being on par or interchangeable with professional wrestling fans. Seems like a lot of you guys are kidding yourselves if you don't think that is still the perception of race fans by much of the general public.

Like I wrote earlier, your mileage may vary. It has been my experience throughout my life, however, that when I try to sell co-workers or my non-racing friends on the merits of the sport that it is usually looked down upon by people who did not grow up around the sport or non fans. My point was that the crowd reaction did nothing to break that stereotype of race fans.

Again, your mileage may vary if you thought that was a positive reflection on the sport.

Sprinter79, thats why I told the people who were chanting "America love it or leave it" to me during the Vietnam war that they were wrong to say that, and that I was and am a patriot for standing up against it, and the government.

Twice in one day during the campaign, one in the morning, then later at a campaign rally in the afternoon, even after being told by her handlers not to say it again, yet we got it again, "for the first time in my life I'm proud to be an American", because her husband was nominated by the libs. She needs to read a history book, many times. Any 45 year old white wife of a conservative or liberal candidate saying something that stupid would be done, cooked.

I'm sure the 150,000 Union soldiers who were killed along with several hundred thousand wounded, many amputees, are not a distant thought in that idiots mind. Good Gawd, the taxpayers paid for her college degree and her law degree. I mean she should be able to think of thousands of reasons to be proud of this country. What a loser, but the country is half full of losers, people with no incentive to do anything on their own cuz the government keeps expanding old welfare programs and inroducing new ones.

Maybe she's proud because of her hubby's geography talents, knowing we have 57 states or that he has never heard the word Corpsman before in his life, pronouncing it Corpsemen twice in one speech and once in another speech a week later, and from a teleprompter both times, along with dozens of similar blunders that would make Bush seem like a genius, yet da Bum's blunders don't make the news or the late nite comedians routines. How many men, how many college graduates, how many law school graduates, how many state senators, how many U.S. Senators, how many Presidents, don't know how to pronounce Corpsman? I'd guess just one.

Lawlessness and liberalism equals Hell. NY City,
Detroit, Seattle, Chicago, Minnepolis, etc. We saw it.
Burning hundreds of buildings, a thousand assaults and
dozens of murders. Getting worser and worser.
