Maybe I'm looking at it al wrong, but here's my opinion.

Isn't it cheaper if you keep the status quo?

By announcing ZERO rule changes, shouldn't that mean that the car/motor/tires that every 305 driver that raced @ Kville just has to do maintenance to the car and they are race ready for 2012?

Maybe that seems too simplistic to everyone, but by having a rules meeting and changing rules for the 2012 season seems to me that it would add expense to the racers and teams.

Also stated at teh banquet Saturday night was that the 410 and 360 rules would remain in-tact with the lone exception of a new muffler rule to reduce decibels again (muffler was tested off an on throughout the season by various teams/drivers).

How is it a bad thing when a track decides not to add more rules/regulations that just cost car owners money????

To all the 305 sprint car racers in middle America: just race your sprinters where you want to! There will be NO standardised rules for the 305's.

Too many egos. Too little cooperation between clubs / tracks.

Good luck to all 305 racers everywhere !

Thanks Carl, you tried and your efforts are appreciated by more than you will ever know.

Have a great Holiday season.

Looking through the rules for the URSS and it looks like NG might be right. Those rules seem to be pretty precise with regards to the engine package. Shame that they are so far away for us as it would be impossible to swing that, but I can see why they get so many cars.

Just one question on the urss. As I read thru their rules, am I correct it is 100 per yr to register car/driver. Then 20 dollars each week for a pill draw? If i am reading this correctly then that would pay most of the point fund. I am not saying this is wrong just asking because that would mean 45 dollars just to get in to the race for 1 person. Just wondering.

what i dont understand is why everyone thinks that burlington and mw 305s should change there rules to knoxville? these 2 clubs have pretty much the same rules, and they had them first,so if everyone wants to bitch about not having standardised rules then bitch at knoxville..the came in 3rd to pick up these cars and made there own dam rules, and exspect every other club to follow suit just cause its knoxville...i could care less,,it might be the best facility around here but that dont give them the right to bull other tracks and there rule books around..so if theres 3 rule books and 2 r almost the same and 1 is different then why should 2 change theres instead of changing just the 1 that is different? O i forgot its knoxville so we all should kiss there a$$..no thanks..our rule book at burlington hasent changed in 5 years except we did try a tire rule and all it did was guys more $ so they did away with it..34 is looking out for there own and im proud of them for NOT jumping on the knoxville band wagon..we average 18 cars a night with our own cars,, we dont have to have 2 or 3 groups to make our field like kv does...also 34 and kv race on sat. nights so very few if any cars r gonna travel there, or them come here on any off nights or rain outs..another reason we should not have to change our rules for them...im not trying to convince anyone of anything here, this my opinion only..

Jayson, you make some good points, I just don't understand everyone's hatred toward K'ville on this one.

Knoxville didn't change ANYTHING in their rulebook from 2011 for 2012 for the 305's. So, everyone is up in arms over them not forcing a rule upon them (whether it be tires, wings, motors, etc.)??

I guess maybe I just don't get it, but everyone hears over and over from every other group (360's and 410's) about how much every single rule change to save the racers $$ always ends up costing them more $$ and they'd rather the rules be left alone so they can run the same parts/pieces/motors as they did the year prior. Yet, everyone on here is having the opposite reaction of the rules need to be changed so teams and drivers will be FORCED to spend $$ (if their current equipment isn't compatible with the new rules).

I agree that Burlington has a good group of racers and I don't blame them one bit for not traveling to Knoxville (doesn't make financial sense to travel that far when you can race in your backyard). But for everyone to be up in arms over not having to buy new parts or make changes to their cars just makes me scratch my head and wonder if everyone forgets how the 360's got so far out of hand in the first place (they kept implementing more and more rules).

I would think that minimal rule changes is actually GREAT for the 305 drivers and teams as they can buy used parts from the 360 and 410 teams at the end of the season instead of having to buy parts that conform to some new rulebook. For example: If the 305 groups came out and changed the rules to no aluminum wheels or hubs (steel only) everyone running a 305 would have NO CHOICE but to buy Brand New wheels as 99.9% of the 360 and 410 teams don't run non-aluminum wheels. Sure, the steel ones are cheaper than the aluminum (when they are new), but odds are that a 305 team can buy some used aluminum wheels cheaper than they can buy the steel ones new from the manufacturer.

I personally don't think anyone should be complaining about a lack of rule changes (especially in our current economy).

If rule changes are needed. Have the meetings (and invite everyone involved, team owners, drivers, tracks, sanctioning bodies), but go in with an open mind and be thinking about rules for 2013 (it's almost December of 2011, changing the rules for 2012 seems crazy to me as some areas of the country will begin racing in 3 months). No BUSINESS would ever think of changing thier entire strategy 2 months before Christmas shopping begins, they start on that literally a year in advance. Racing needs to start thinking like a BUSINESS, as it outgrew being a hobby many, many years ago.

i agree with leaving the rules the way they are..100%.....and i dont hate on kv at all just get tired of hearing people say kv this and kv that and why all the other groups should do what there doing...when we race the same night as them and they r 2 hours away and we have our own cars...my question in all this is why do peolpe even bring 34 raceway in this argument? we dont need there cars and they dont need ours..plus like i said we race on the same night of the week..yes it would b nice if we all had the same rules, but thats a fairy tale...it will never happen...

FYI, Carson McCarl won the Knoxville 305 point championship and had the most 305 wins driving a 10 year old Eagle with a 5 year old Vortex wing on top and a MW 305/Burlington 305 legal motor built by Manny Rockhold of Automotive Machine in Pekin, IL. He ran the same 2 rear tires for the first 3 weeks and mostly all used tires after that. We built the car to run with the MW 305 group as much as possible, there was NO Titaneum anywhere other than a bolt in the pittman arm accidentally. I hope Knoxville keeps their rules strict in this class and techs them often. This is a great class for the young guys to learn and get some laps and hopefully attract some sponsors and move up and for other guys to race and have fun in an affordable manner.

Also, we are thinking about adding the 305's to the Tuesday night non-wing Ultimate Challenge at Osky next year. We really believe in this class and want them to race in front of a big audience to show what a good show they can put on.

I would love to see the 305's at both the front row and ultimate challenge, gets pretty dam long between the heats and features at those shows. Plus the 305's put on a good show.
