The racing community lost a great ambassador. Here's to you Dan, a husband, a father, and a racer.

Bud has been a racefan for 75 years and this day was as tough as they come ! In a 15 car crash it was clear that the outcome could have been so much worse, yet Dan Weldon's death has laid us all low as we contemplate what happens now for his close family and friends. Those who had met this man can testify that he was not only a gentleman but one who raised our sport by his participation. We now go on without him and can only hope that some good will come out of this huge hole that has been placed on our beloved sport. We will miss this man.

Been a life long fan of Dan since seing him karts here in the UK I can say he was one of our greatest exports!! But sadly never got much recognition at his home in the Uk as he isn't a F1 star never the less the racing family in the UK is hurting real bad today! RIP Danny Boy!

Rest in peace, Dan, & my condolences to his family & friends. Only good thing I can say is that he went down doing what he loved, no long miserable convalescence.
Why don't Indy cars use roll cages?

Tragic doesn't even come close to describing how horrible of a loss this is to the racing community. RIP Mr. Wheldon.

for years, this series has had a skill set disparity between the top drivers and the lower tier teams...it is a dang shame that one car sideways took out all of these cars and a life lost.
looking at this footage make me relaize how lucky the rest of the drivers actually were in this situation...
Lincoln 1845 ft/.35 mile T1=118MPH
Eldora 2287 ft/.43mile T3=135MPH
Port 2716 ft/.51 mile T3=TBD
Grove 2792 ft/.53 mile T3=135MPH
Selinsgrove 2847 ft/.54 mile T1=136MPH
