Sorry, but I think we are just going to have to agree that we both disagree... I dont go for a fan experience. I go for the talent of the competition. I believe the competition level at the Gold Cup far exceeds that of the Trophy Cup.

It seems that 50 bucks for a 10 grand to win show is outragious! Back that up to a 40 dollar, 3 grand to win usac show(with maybe 4o cars, of which 3 of them no what narc stands for)and that equalls fans staying away! One cannot forget that in order to camp at gold cup you must pay 40 a night, and to reserve a campsite you must pay for an entire week!

Confusing,,, not when dealing with your logic... DID YOU SAY BIG RACE? Did the Gold Cup used to be considered one of the top three races in the COUNTRY to win? How many Trophy Cups have I been to? Many... Been to more Gold Cups.... Just cause you dont have over 100 cars last year, you throw the Gold Cup under the bus for the trophy cup... Did someone say format is everything? I guess you dont get passing points at Gold Cup and starting up front in a BIG race doesnt makes much scence...

When was the last time you saw 100 cars at a Gold Cup??? Not anytime recently.

CSTsnow.......do YOU know what the payout is?? Unless you race (which it sounds like you dont) you wouldnt know what the payout is. I believe the payout was 50,000 then $12,500 a couple of years ago...so how do your homework before you respond.

Actually yes I/my family does, and yes we unfortunately do know what the payout is at Gold Cup, especially the payout deep in the field. Yeah the payout past the top spot has been pathetic in the past, but imagine how bad it will be starting out much lower. Something is wrong when the payout for one of the biggest races in the country is hardly more than the regular King of the West weekly payout, no matter how you try to rationalize it.

Maybe things will get better when the economy picks up.

Matt,

Was it different when I did little favors for you? I can't wait to see the BIG improvement with DENNIS there..Have you ever seen what the WoO send to promoters for a payoff? I didn't think so...

Robbie I never chastised you or your husband for any of their efforts in promoting Silver Dollar Speedway over the years. I stated "my opinion" is that the $50,000 to win sounds great but I feel if it were spread back throughout the field more rather than at the top the Gold Cup would get more cars. Now obviously I nor anyone else posting here for that matter know the ins and outs of running a big race such as you do. I fail to see why my opinion of purse distribution is that upsetting. Never have I stated that Dennis Gage will be better for the track, the Gold Cup or anything else. I stand by my statement that for a "BIG" race the purse breakdown is thin past the first few spots. I'm not nor will I ever be a fan of top heavy purse structures as I know its the bulk of the race cars that make a great event not the top 5 cars that swoop in take the cash and leave town. We need grassroots racing to grow for the 410's in California and to me putting a few extra bucks in the locals pockets is a very good thing. I like the way Trophy Cup pays out and the racing format in general. When you speak with the racers they like it too. Race hard and get rewarded even if your not one of the big dollar backed teams that finishes in the top 5. The new King of the West series understands this philosophy it seems as they have boosted the pay at the back of the A mains and the B mains for their upcoming races, there must be something to that kind of logic. Thank you for all you and your husband did for the sport we all love. You guys put on some fun Gold Cups, with the change in the event format this past year and now this coming race I'm not so sure it has the same appeal. Some change is good and some-at least in my mind- is not so good. Matt

Don't forget there are also Midgets on the schedule for that night, so you're looking at 60-70 cars for the Thursday night show at least.

Sounds like you've been to the Kindoll a few times. If you've not seen the ASCS National Series, give PVille a shot. I went to the Western World last year to see the ASCS national guys for the first time and it was a he'll of a show. Throw in the PVille locals and it should be top notch!

Ok if any of you truly believe that the Gold Cup is a better race than the Trophy Cup you should either stop the drug use or put your helmet on and clean some windows. You can not honestly say that a race that has been fading away over the last 5 years is better than a race that everyone wants to be at. A teams Gold Cup is determined by 2 qualifying laps. If they are good you start up front finish make the dash and start up front again. Trophy Cup you better bring your A game whenever your ass hits the race track because if your a fast qualifier it doesn't't mean sh*t if you can't pass cars. Not to mention it is help at the best race track in California today. Sorry folks but SDS is slowly circling the bowl like a fat nasty turd that has been flushed but just wont go down. I used to love Chico and think it was the best but that day is long gone and you can tell by the car count and fan base that I'm not the only one. And as for competition at both these races look at the guys that run Trophy Cup and Gold Cup. Sorry just because Sammy oh wait he ran it a couple years ago, Saldana oh wait he has too, Meyers oh he does almost every year, oh ok Steve and Donny aren't there so the competition sucks. Yeah there might be some squids at Trophy Cup but I will put money up that there are more squids that race the Gold Cup every year than what run the Trophy Cup. Its sad when people can't look passed the 410 - 360 thing. Face it Californians 410s are slowly dieing out here. Half of the fans can't even tell the difference if both those motors were sitting on the ground in front of them anyways let alone when they are in a car going around the track. So if you haven't attended a Trophy Cup you better do so and if you have and think the Gold Cup is better open your eyes get sober and go again cause you obviously didn't see what every other person there did.

I never really post on here, but I know I'll be at both the Gold Cup & Trophy Cup with my buddie Shawn McDonald and we will see great racing and have a great time at both of these great races. Maybe some of you should quit bitchen about things that are out of your control, and look at the positive side of things for a change and enjoy the races.

Dennis Gage is hard at work to make this year`s event a good one. His plans for the Thursday after race party, for instance look like a fresh, fun all inclusive event that should be fun for all age groups. All this message board second guessing only requires a computer with an internet connection to participate. Give Dennis the benefit of the doubt. I am not worried about the 2011 Gold Cup and I am lucky enough to see things from a perspective that most people don`t have.

It's neat watching everyone talk about how bad it is for the fans the purse is cut. Or how KWS is not racing at a track. KWS costs a lot more to the promoters than previous years. And the economy is hurting a lot of tracks. Crowds are smaller, but purse is higher! So tracks have to make changes to make sure they are still in business. Handy probably did what he did as a business decision. Chico probably changed gold cup as a business decision. This is a business for our promoters. They need to make money. They should make money. A fair purse should be paid. But purses should not knock tracks out of business. There should at least be a fighting chance for the promoter.

Scott and RJ i hope to see you at all the tracks im visiting my name is Randy and if your gonna make it down to so cal let me know if you need a lift from airport or anything else . scott you should really try canyon raceway it is now on the usac national schedule for 2 nights and also the usac/cra schedule should be a good show i believe 2000 to win friday and 5000 to win sat . the only thing making me think otherwise is the same weekend is the 3rd round of the west coast challenge at ventura 5000 for sprints 2000 for midgets . TROPHY CUP RULES
