And I wondered why Tyler left Cali.... Shoot after looking at this topic on this board, I dont think I have ever seen this problem with the folks in PA. Not running with the Outlaws when they are in your neck of the woods. Because of a membership fee and the cost of tires.... I thought the point of racing was to race! Striving to beat the best, well in order to do that, you have to race against the best. And to the newcomer that comes into this sport, they would never guess that Cali had a long list of respectable drivers... Guess they dont make em like they used to! No wonder they talk about PA vs the Wold of Outlaws and just skip by the Cali based teams.

they do make them like they used to. the problem is...they pay like they used to. all the costs associated with racing have gone up, including the ticket prices as well as the incidentals like food and lodging. still the purse and payout per position have not kept up. you can't blame people for not choosing to go broke to race. there are plenty of racers with the desire to compete. i am speaking of both local racing and touring series. the local area sprint racing pays pretty much what it has for years, including GSC. so has the woo. everyone that is making money in racing is making it off the backs of the racers. the racer has become the promoters best customer, and they are being driven off.

Actually a WoO race is one of the few times that a California race team can make enough money to offset most, if not all, of the costs, associated with running the actual race....Let's see...

Tires - most of the California teams would buy new tires for the WoO show, so whether they're Goodyears or Hoosiers, it doesn't matter, IMO. So these $$$ are a wash, IMO....

Membership fees - yes, the WoO fee is $125 or $150; most of the the California teams that used to race with NARC used to pay an $80 membership fee. Again, what's the big deal?

And since most of the California teams will be racing in the Gold Cup this fall, they'll just have to spend this money, anyway.

The GSC pays the last place car $250/$300(don't know the exact amount); the WoO pays the last place car $800. So if you're going to run last, shouldn't you/wouldn't you run a WoO show?

No bid deal to BK...and a few like him.

It is a big deal to the teams who will show up, knowing their chances are slim to none, they will make the show. Tires they won't use again until March, 2011

You have guys in the 2-Larry area who VERY SELDOM go up to Chico...even for the Gold Cup.

Hey....I don't need to worry. I don't have a car to enter anyway! Ha
