Interesting statistic- only 3 drivers competed in every WoO race last year, and Brad Sweet wasn't one of them.

I think that even most HL non-fans would agree that the HL series is a work in progress, subject to revision. I could see the 100% race attendance to qualify for a charter provision being dialed back to something a little more realistic, like 90% or so.

So who were the 3?

I would think the top teams attendance wise would get the charters. It is logical.

Lets wait and see how many "fulltime" safety people travel with them fulltime and how many track medics they recruit at each track. HL is not transparent with everything they say!

I don't know how many full time safety people there will be . But I do know the crews will be filled out by regional personel.

Pretty sure Brad had 100% attendance may not have made every feature though.

Ya.  I think the confusion is on the WoO site it lists "starts" that's only A main starts.   Sweet didn't make Kings Royal a so it don't show as a start .   11 of top 12 in points (minus McFadden) were at every race but only 3 started in every a main.

That may be correct. I was taking info off the WoO website.

That brings up a question. If 11 out of 12 made every WoO race, is it possible that 11 out of 12 make every HL race?

I think it's possible 12 go to every High Limit race, it won't be all 16 for sure though. Last year over 20 signed up for the 12 race series and 5 cars stuck it out.  Kahne (again) and Kinser dropped off the WoO tour last year.  Allen took his break, but the 1A/1T was still at all the races. WoO would have had 12 drivers and 13 cars at every race if not for the tire thing with Roth/McFadden.  I think top 15 platinum members are who get the tow money and free pit passes (under rated perk when you have 2 pit passes times 80 races)  for WoO.

I think so. The charter deal will be interesting,it's an unknown in Sprint cars and no one knows how it will play out. I highly doubt all sixteen make all shows.

At this point High Limit has held a dozen or so races on week nights.  They will have some growing pains and face challenges like short fields, poor track conditions, weather and all the things fans dissect on social media after every race.  The Outlaws have fifty years dealing with the unexpected but they're still the subject of controversy when something out of the ordinary happens.

At some point the High Limit honeymoon phase will wear off and we'll see how they handle the day to day year to year grind.  Meanwhile there's still plenty of non WoO and HL at Knoxville, PA, OH, Husets, River Cities, IRA, 360's, 305 w and non-w.  I think aside from the HL everything else will be business as usual.  These touring series are fun, kind of like when the circus came to town back in the day, but that was only once or twice a year.

"Guaranteed charters" have already been given to some teams to join.

I am sure alot of money is being spread around this year.  A lot of teams got "special secret " handshakes.  Now if I was one of the non special teams , how do I feel?    Plus I bet some tracks got very special sanction deals.   And again  what if you are one of the tracks that didn't get the special deal?  Good way to build a lot of animosity within the group by some already getting preferential treatment.

As another poster alluded to when the charters go into effect.   Most people only look out for their own best interest.  So when the charters start those teams will feel they have the power to say how things work.  Then what happens when other teams feel as if they are getting pushed around.  It won't be a very attractive series when only 10 or 12 charter teams are the only ones in the pits.    How did this model work the CART series?

And a question regarding the charters?  Getting 50% percent of the streaming revenue,  it that gross or net?

And since Flo shows many sports is it 50% of all of Flo or is it based on the percentage racing is of the total viewers?

And what happens if at the end of two years Brad and Kyle cash out or FLO sells to a big  broadcast or streaming network?

The teams who sign on now and grind it out and build it up to something valuable . In two years the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow could be gone.  The teams could be left with an empty pot.

Where are you getting that from?

Note: I was given some static by some posters on here for suggesting that teams would need a lawyer on staff to navigate things like the charter program. Smile

Where are you getting the 'secret handshake' and 'special sanction deals' from? To be honest, that sounds like  conjecture or unfounded rumors. What are your thoughts?

I am not 100% sure, but my understanding is that the charters are for the car/team owners. Not the drivers. This would mean Sweet and Larson are not eligible for a charter themselves. (Kahne and Silva would be and Larson can't run all of the races). Will Silva put someone else in the car at the races Larson can't attend to try for a charter? Drivers like Marks and Abreu would be eligible.

The teams are still eligible for the tow money and points fund money as usual.

Is any of the potential sponsorship money brought in to sponsor the HL series during the streaming of the races part of the 50% revenue? If so, this could turn out to be very lucrative for the series and the owners. Has anyone else noticed how many ads that have nothing to do with racing being shown on FLO during racing steams?

As a latemodel fan that watched the growth of of the Lucas oil series over the last 20 plus years, This is kind of the other end of the spectrum having this many cars signing up. When Lucas started  their series, they would be lucky to get 10 drivers the first few years. Last year both Lucas and WoO latemodels series ended with 14. Already looking like a healthy 12 to 15 for each to start 2024.

My bold prediction for HL (just guessing, don't really have a clue, not starting any rumors) will eventually be called the Lucas Oil High Limit Series.
