Dogging the track is simply a fun thing for people to do. Esp when considering many of you would stay home with inconvenient weather or had no intentions of attending, but believe they could have raced.

This is the ONLY scenario where streaming truly matters in that fans will staty home if they have an option knowing damn well they could be cold, wet, hot, etc. Afterall....who could blame them? But running knowing half your regular fanbase will be sitting on their couches is flat out bad business. That's what this sport and racing is for tracks right? Business!

Port Royal ran the other day and pushed times up and got a full show in withing two hours and fans did not experience a bit of rain and had 70 degree weather at racetime. And yet the race fans failed them. They stayed home, made other plans etc. Why shoud tracks put in the effort and work hard to barely break even or lose money when the fans are not willing to reciprocate the efforts?

A three-division regular show at Port Royal features a $65,000 purse. They need 3-4,000 fans on a regular night to break even with full pits. I can guarantee you they will be rethinking their practices of moving times forward and backwards after the last weekends turnout for an ideal situation race wise.

Williams Grove the other night has ULMS late models and a 410 show with an entire purse of $55,000. Why chance running knowing they needed 3000 fans to show up to even think about breaking even.

It's time for fans to put up or shut up. It's time for them to stop making excuses and stop playing the blame game every week. These tracks need you. They need your dollars. They need your support. They need your enthusiasm and social media help. They need you more than anyone else on board frankly. And nobody seems to understand that. They think "We race cuz its the weekend and rain and snow don;t matter because we got the best fans in thre world."

Well we do have the best fans in the world. It;s just a shame they can;t see past the tunnel vision of the good old days and realize they're not helping when they don;t show up!

Every year we have these infantile discussions about rain and the decisions made by the tracks whether or not to run. It usually ends up with some ridiculous tweets about "Mother Nature isn't a race fan" as though it's unprecedented there is rain in March and April. Even in states like California the weather is iffy in the spring, and had the Outlaws done their usually tour there it likely would have been a total washout given the rains this year they've had.

Very fine contribution to this annual infantile dicussion. I learned a lot.

i'm not an expert and i don't think i'm complaining.  the weekend played out exactly the way it should have based on the history of each track and how they make these calls.

the grove acted like they would race when it was obvious they would cancel.  you're right...it actually didn't turn out to be much of a wall of water like it showed up on the radar...but it didn't have to be.

lincoln tried to take on severe weather.  this time they lost.

port made the best decision by moving to 1 pm.  they had a terrific race too.  weather was absolutely beautiful for 3-4 hours on saturday afternoon.  i'm not sure if lincoln stayed at 7 to avoid a conflict.

i'm not a port homer either.  i live in the grove's neighborhood.  i just call them as i see them and people who matter like drivers say the same good things about port too.

It wasn't obvious that they would cancel. The NWS weather discussion for that day, in particular, the one posted for that afternoon specifically outlined that the forecast as far as how well the storms would hold together while crossing the Allegheny front was only marginal at best. With questionable levels of instability present in the eastern 3rd of the state, the storms may have trouble staying organized in the less favorable environment and would likely become more isolated, less intense in nature so they lowered POPS slightly to reflect the questionable forecast confidence. So, Williams Grove kept the green lights on because they had a reasonable chance of staying dry as per the scientific opinion of the professional forecasters. But as it turned out, it they still got rain there and they canceled. Twist it how you want but they took a measured approach whether you think so or not.

The weather folks are wrong often. They still get paid!  They often get the temps close along with the wind direction. Rain or snow good luck. Even the radar can confuse everyone.
