Super Chuck says he joined the fun 99ish. Blame Nelligan. He convinced him to check it out whilst peddling his fuzzy photos (Super Chuck owns hundreds of them).

Still browse once a week or so. The Twitterverse has made racing information so much more available and it's kind of amazing this place is still around. Handfulls of trolls have come and gone, but wonder what ever happened to that Beadie guy? If Super Chuck had to guess, the guy probably got stabbed in a bar fight in Albuquerque for running his jib.

I started on the old Williams Grove message board which prepared me for the cesspool that is an online message board. I still enjoy this place, not so much for breaking news but to read and share opinions with sprint car fanatics like myself.

I have been around long enough to remember a plane crash in Poland. This will make absolutly no sense to anyone unless they read and participated in that thread......

But dang. This all started with the open wheel wizard, and the AOL boards. Then everyone ended up here.

I joined early 2000's (01 or 02 I think). I've had screen names of posse77 and roostertail. There was a lot more topics and conversation back then, and of course the posse vs the world stuff. Good times.

Not a charter member but have been active on the board for at least 20 years.  Years ago, sarcasm, bantor and outright personal attacks were commonplace.  Not so much anymore.  I miss the old days with MSPN, no-dust, big-right-rear, hawker and a host of others.

Those user names bring back some memories...

I am a life long fan, but a relative NEWBIE to the board, but as others have said, I come on here EVERY day, sometimes four or five times throughout the day.

I joined up in 2004. I usually stop in every day through out the week. Not so much on weekends.

Before this I use to visit TJSlideways Forum under the moniker of either "GIZZER 63 or PUMPER 63.

I cannot recall now for sure. Always look forward to stopping in everyday though and see what the latest rumblings are.

+1

This message board has outsurvived a lot of other message boards that died in the past.

It is now competing with twitter, floracing, youtube, facebook instead; but message board format still has it's place.

Race cars haven't changed much, just more expensive. Heading towards fewer bigger races. RPMs 9000+ now for expenisive qualifying motors, but then detuning for feature is commonplace. Huge waste of money for a couple of laps. At least make them run the wings flat and take the wickerbills off for qualifying.

Latest is teams battling for more streaming money. Tracks are next, will want a bigger cut or black out local fans so they have to come to track.

Drivers mean more than ever.

Posse still kicking outlaw ass since 1978.

I had a different username when I first got on here in ’98.  I don’t even remember what it was.

I do remember “Wertz”.  He was a Lasoski fan.  Every time Lasoski won he’d post “Ring that bell”.

“Ref” got under my skin at times.  He knew how to get a reaction out of you.  His comments could be pretty funny though.

The Open Wheel Wizard seemed to have more of the non-wing crowd back then.  Kind of like today’s Indiana Open Wheel.

When Earl made the decision for the Eldora Million to be a non-wing race back in ‘03, this board went off the rails.

Before Twitter and FB, this board was your go-to to get race results.  Fans would post results, not some PR person.  I was one of them.  I would hurry home from a race somewhere and if I didn’t see any results, I’d post the winner, top 3, a brief recap.  That was using dial-up.  I would type up a whole story on the board and then it was freeze and my story would disappear.  Drove me nuts.  There were times I’d write something 5x before it actually posted.

Discussions really heated up during Nationals week.  More often than not, this board would crash and be down for hours, if not days.  The worst possible time to do that.

I go back to the beginnings of the original message board in the mid-to-late '90s...I'm thinking 1997 or 1998.  I believe slideguy is correct that there was a changeover and we had to re-register our accounts.  I was very active back then, not so much now.  I distinctly remember always getting ticked off at Nelligan (aka MSPN)...ah, what time teaches you about taking things too seriously.

I have the same vintage and remember having to re register as well. I remember MSPN well and had the pleasure of hosting him at my house for the Skagit speedway Super  Dirtcup as it was called at the time. I don't remember the year but was when I was still racing myself so around 96 or 97. I remember Wertz Hawker and departed IntoDirt77 Sean or Shawn McDonald I believe his name was. Still have some nice photos I got from Mike Nelligan AKA MSPN. Never posted much after 04 when I hung up my driving suit...

The older I get the faster I was

been reading since 2000....i remember having to re-register

might have pushed buttons as well living down the highway from Husets, and getting into it with McCarl fans over the years

but great memories....NODUST invited myself and my son to sit with him in a suite at knoxville..and always talked to him when he came up to HUSETS

got many great pics from MSPN

helped me spend a summer doing the broadcasts in knoxville with KNIA/KRLS in 2001....also got to have a 1 on 1 brief meeting with tony stewart at eldora that summer in the announce booth as they sent a MIDWEST MAFIA package to Eldora for me

Brad Doty himself, gave me recomendations on hotels when i made my first trip to the DOTY classic from south dakota, and then spent a few moments talking to me when i introduced myself in the pits....

I actually found my first sprint car race thru Hoseheads, 2010. Not the message board, but the race listings

I was in upstate N.Y.  & a friend gave me a Circle Track magazine for a Smokey Yunick article. Elsewhere it mentioned that Central Pa. had a hot sprint car scene. I had gone to lots of dirt track "jalopy" races years before, had heard about sprint cars & was curious... going to visit a girl in Southeast Pa. the next day, so I got on the old Interweb & found a race at little Clinton County Speedway, Patriots & Empire State sprints, 360s & 410s racing together.... David Gravel was there. I was shocked that anybody from Connecicut raced sprint cars... now look what happened!

Some of you guys have met, or had existing relationships? I've only had one race friend, ask me if I was "yungwun24" on hoseheads.

Nope, only one friend from IOW, the legendary Brent T Funk

But he's a good one!

I have met folks at the track tho, that I see whenever I go

Is that still active?

Haven't been on that in along time...
