He did okay, had some good runs in middle of the pack equipment. He had the car to beat at Atlanta one year and had he won that, I think he'd have had a much different career. People forget how good he was in a sprint car because he was down there that long.

Everybody who saw the 2003 spring Darlington race remembers the finish (Rickt Craven and Kurt Busch).
But who finished third that day? You guessed it, Dave Blaney. He was driving that yellow 77 Jasper sponsored shitbox. He definitely outperformed his equipment that day.

Same with the 01 Atlanta race that Harvick won just a couple weeks after Dale Sr's death. Blaney had the best car and was leading with about 100 to go with he had to pit unexpectedly because his tire didn't have all the lugs on it
