If he does a throwback scheme, it has to be the TMC car. To this day, that is still the most beautiful sprint car to ever hit the track. Simple, sleek, clean and it looked like it was going 150 mph sitting still.

I agree the natural would be the TMC car. Here's an idea for the Thone team. Call TMC and explain the idea and ask for a one event sponsorship deal. If they aren't interested, call Old Milwaukee....no interest there, call Hooters. What a way for one of those companies to get the most impact possible for a one week sponsorship deal! And quite possibly the design scheme of the week. Then auction off the body parts and wings and donate the proceeds to the Jason Johnson family.

I'm NOT a Sammy fan, bit I do respect the heck outta him. I, however, couldn't agree with you any more about the black TMC car....to this day it is still the most beautiful winged sprint car to ever grace dirt!

Judging by the decal on the tail tank (USA), the pic was from 1989.  I'm pretty sure Sammy ran both WoO and USA that year.  This was probably a USA show and he was probably blacking out the WoO logo on the wing.

The pictures of the tmc car don't even do it justice. Best looking sprint car I have ever seen in person. Even the tmc companys trucks are immaculate and clean all the time I see them all the time I believe they are based out of iowa. Had heard that that the company tells the drivers they had better not get caught with a dirty truck.

Almost warrants another thread, best looking car(s) of all time?  Although, each has their own taste, so it might end up turning into a Posse bashing session like 69% of the posts on here! Smile  I'd say Stevie Smith's #77 car and/or Hillenburg's #2 STP car would be close.

In a best looking car of all time contest the TMC #1 would finish 1st, 2nd & 3rd. Brad Doty's Coors Light car from 1987 would finish 4th & 5th.

A quick story about how anal Sammy was about that TMC car (and all of his cars). One time around 1989 my dad & I were observing Sammy working on it, and when he took off those polished stainless wheel cover discs, he stuck a screwdriver vertically into the ground just so he could lean the wheel cover against it so it wouldn't get dirty!!!

YES.  That STP #2.  I remember it from the first WoO show I ever attended ... "Broken Arrow, Oklahoma."  Who has a pic?

I am as big of anti-Sammy fan as there is.  Never had the time of day for him.  With that in mind, I even agree that the black TMC #1 car was by far, the best looking ever of them all!!!

They are based out of Iowa.  See many of their flatbeds hauling lumber and other building materials for Home Depot in this area (western IA and eastern NE).  And yes, their trucks are almost always pretty damn clean.  Destination Excellence is their slogan.

At the Chili Bowl the year he ran the alphabet (2003?) we went by his pit early Saturday.  He was putting a decal on the side panel that might have been 3x6 inches, something no one in the stands would ever see.  He got a tape measure and made sure this little decal was perfectly centered with the others and aligned with the contours of the panel.

Well, not that it's a giveaway on paint scheme ,but on the Knoxville entry list he is entered in car #1 sooooo. Maybe if not the TMC car exactly, how about replacing the TMC with THONE and using the same scheme. I don't care either way, I'll be there in person to see whatever it is and I can't wait!!!!!

I personally think the ChannelLock car was much better looking than the TMC car.   I liked the TMC car too, but I've never been all that wild about gold leaf numbers.

I even see one on occasion down here in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.    As far as someone's idea that TMC might sponsor him just for the Nationals, it probably depends on whether or not the relationship ended on good terms.    Not saying it didn't end on good terms, just that sometimes things don't work out that way.

My opinion is that none of today's wrapped/graphic cars will ever look as good as any car from any era that had paint on it.
