PPMS is .45mi inside and .55mi outside. Biggest difference between inside and outside of the tracks so far. That place looks wide averaging around 80' width of racing room around the entire track. To put in perspective I have always thought Knoxville to have a wide racing surface and they are around 65-70' width of racing room on average. The Grove averages 60-65' width and Eldora PPMS looks very symetrical where Knoxville really is not. It's really interesting comparing the designs of these race tracks. Keep in mind on width measurements that these can be very inaccurate due to banking and only being able to measure an overhead shot. If the banking is really steap the width or surface area of racing room is actually a good amount more.

PPMS is nicknamed "dirt's monster half-mile." Sadly, the rumors have really grown strong the past couple years that the track is going to be sold and the land used for development.
Another track that is quite large is Bridgeport (N.J.) Speedway. Now that the Syracuse (N.Y.) Mile is gone, Bridgeport is probably the biggest track the Northeast big-block Modifieds race on. That is where Jason Leffler was fatally injured, and 410s really fly around that place.

Pecatonica, Illinois might be bigger than all of these others. Davenport, Iowa is also pretty big.

Not sure how Hartford MI or Belleville KS stack up against the Antigo track, but those are the biggest I have seen outside the 3 one mile tracks.

Hartford Speedway was reconfigured last year to a 3/8ths. Kept turns 1 & 2 but moved 3 & 4 way in.

Pecatonica sure is a big narrow joint, probably the smallest difference between inside and outside that IADIRT will find.
It always reminded me of a mini-Indy with 4 distinct corners connected by 2 short chutes and 2 long straights.

I think Speedbump is talking about Hartford Michigan and you are thinking of Hartford South Dakota.

JMO , Big 1/2 mile or 5/8 tracks are great for speed, but too many times the racing is follow the leader. WG and Port Royal are both quilty at times of having freight train races. I get to about 60 races a year and I would prefer tracks 4/10 and smaller. Seems the racing is always better.

No, he’s right. Hartford, Michigan was reconfigured from a very large half mile to a 3/8ths.
Langlande County looks like it is very similar to Terre Haute in terms of size and configuration. The corners at TH might be more narrow.

Anyone ever do a true measurement for Bridgeport in NJ.
True that WG and Lebanon Valley are similar in shape. Valley may even be a little more of a paperclip, but it will always have the speed advantage over WG I would think because it has more aggresive banking.
I remember seeing tape of the older gremlin and pinto bodied modifieds before the sheet metal and tires locked them to the track and they were a little more fun to watch at Lebanon Valley than the current one. In Series races wthe track regulars would often whip the travelling guys, because the cars weren't so aerodynamically locked to the track they would run a line where they would diamond the corners, up the banking and then back down the hill. Was a fun line to watch around the track.

Well it wasn't the fastest I've seen them go at Antigo, but it was still a fun night. Saw a few vapor trails from the top 4 or 5 cars in the A. Jake Blackhurst got his second ever 410 IRA win. My daughter won a bike, there was really good racing from the support divisions (super stocks and sport-modifieds). Little bit of a late night, but still a good show. Thanks IRA for keeping this place on your schedule.

Pecatonica .50 mi -> .57 mi. Looks narrow which give an appearance of having longer straight and corners than it does though its not small.
Davenport .51 mi -> .58mi

Interesting, and quite the coincidence. He decribed Hartford Speedway in S.D. pretty accurately.

And the car counts have gone way up and the racing is tons better......
