If this person moved in to the area after the track was in operation (which goes way back)....then I say too damn bad! Shouldn't have moved there. Damn belly achers, anyway!

Sure, you can say that. That doesn't mean the commisioner, who are voted in, will see it your way.
And really, unless they looked at the house on a Sunday evening in the summer, they may not even know about the track.
To be honest, they are loud. Why they haven't been pressured to put on mufflers and/or end earlier in the evening is beyond me.

Umm...it's a racetrack. If you moved into the area and didn't realize there was a racetrack there you would have to be a complete idiot. Everyone in SD and the surrounding area knows there is a racetrack there, race fan or not. The commissioner, who is voted in by his consitituents had damned well better know that enitirely more of his consituents care about the place as a racetrack and therefore contributor to the tax-base and could give a shit about the idiot who is either to dumb to realize his surroundings or worse is just trying to impose his will on the rest of us. To be honest, they are FUCKING LOUD! THAT IS THE POINT!
Thanx,
Bruce

Badlands Motor Speedway Update!
July 13, 2018
Hey Hey Hey Race fans,
First of all we would like to truly thank you for all of your support, calls, emails, texts, letters and visits that so many race fans and race teams made to the Minnehaha County Commissioners to express your concerns. We feel the last thing they wanted to deal with at the next Zoning and Planning meeting was hundreds of upset race fans who's livelihood revolve around this legendary facility of over 60 years in Brandon, SD.
We have received a letter dated July 10, 2018 from Minnehaha County Planning & Zoning Director Scott Anderson.
This letter states that he is respectfully RESCINDING his prior letter to Badlands Motor Speedway.
Based on this news there will not be a need to attend the upcoming zoning and planning commission meeting requesting the appeal of the previous decision sent to us.
The Good news is that we are back to square 1! We could race tonight, tomorrow, next week, next month or next year. No grandfathering of anything has expired and the previous letter that was sent was sent in error and rescinded.
The Bad news is that this has cost a tremendous amount of time and money all the way around as last months auction would have already happened and a new owner could be racing at the facility this weekend if they wanted to. Everything had to be put on indefinite hold until this mess got straightened out, which we are glad it finally did.
We'd like to thank our law firm for jumping in and getting this gross error taken care of. The new owners will able to continue the legacy at Huset's / Badlands long into the future and not have to worry about this type of thing happening again. Please refer any legal questions to:

for the most part, Glenn, the seasons over for this year. Sept makes sense. Let this season be. Negotiate a amicable closing/possession date and make plans for next year.

Hot diggity! You can now buy a high priced pawn shop to go with your high priced race track. The paper today had a fluff piece about Badlands Pawn being on the market for only $12.4 million. It seems to include the building, radio station, gun range, liquer license, blue sky and a lot of wishful thinking.
I wish them well. The location was not good for much before the pawn shop...
