Watched it on fastfourmedia.com was a great race but that was one rutted track compared to what I'm used to seeing! Really enjoyed it but man that had to be expensive for a lot of the drivers. I'd never seen so many broken front ends in a night. Anyways, was a great race (minus the catastrophic B-main) so can't complain! Cool to see California sprint cars for once.

Yes the track was very rough, don't know why it was so rough. Even in mud packing you could see the tires bouncing up and down as the cars were on the track. Stockton is the next race for the SCCT and that track when smooth is fast and wide.
On a side note they announced last night that the June 24th SCCT race in Calistoga will pay 10k to win, Smoke is supposed to be there too. Its a dual meet(360's and 410's) so if the 360's are paying 10 grand I wonder what the 410's are paying? No word if their prize money is increased yet. Bet it will be.

Favoritism in spring car racing in California? Never heard of such a thing....... (sarcasm) I knew this would be the real deal when I saw two things: Abreu Vinyards and somebody BESIDES Mike "the Rat" Andretta being head official. Not having arrogant prick John Prentice involved was just icing on the cake. This thing looks to be such a good deal that I actually wish I could muster the desire to go to a race this year but so far it hasn't happened. It is nice to see something positive happen for the guys who have the desire to keep doing this and have been doing this for so long.

Petaluma has a very high water table underneath it. The ground stayes moist for a longer period of time, especially after all the rain we have had this year. The ground has areas of different density due to the water and the track packs at a different rate because of it, thats why the track was so rough. As the season goes on, the surface will smooth out normally, depending on how much it dries out with time.
