I'd hinted at the Shephard thing earlier in the week last week. Stevie retiring is a possibility. His business has really picked up and the travel back and forth has taken a toll on him business wise.

"Sure wish we could turn back time, and put some sort of cap of spending on motors."
At the unintended risk of sounding like a smart a$$ here: just what time would that be?
It's all relative:the price of motors has been an issue for 35 years - at least.
And, having been around for those 35 years, if asked the question is the sport healthy or not? I'd say healthy.
Are there as many big money car owners? Sadly nope
Are there as cars and spectators for a weekly show? Sadly nope (this one concerns me more than any)
But, it's still healthy with many good cars. All-in-all, I don't think it has changed that much - really - especially when factored by the many choices for stagnant entertainment dollars.

I agree, weekly racing is hurting around the country. However, the crowds for national touring series and special races seems to be as high or higher than its been in a couple of decades.
The World Finals, Knoxville's crowd has started to recover, big late model shows ...etc.
It seems wherever the WoO shows up where they don't run 5-6 times a year, the track draws a record crowd. People seem to be saving for the big shows and the diehards seem to be travelling to more races, but without a healthy weekly scene, I wonder what will happen long term...especially because there needs to be local cars to fill out the fields for the touring series.

The team looks like it's for sale in the classifieds.

Well that sucks. That's one of my favorite cars. Especially when Jac is driving it. One of the best looking cars there is anywhere.

Think the plan with Stevie was a 3 year deal. 2016 was year 3. I have heard Stevie/Rahmer plan to stay together until Stevie decides to retire. No word from the Rahmer camp of any changes as of yet.

I agree after the legends race. Jeff stated himself he felt uncomfortable out there and didnt want to push his luck.

I offered up the McFadden idea a while ago and someone (SpcJay I think) indicated things weren't as "rosy" on that front between the team and mentioned that's why JMac was in the KKR Car for Dirt Classic (or was it Natty Open, I can't remember) and not the Highlands 3.
