If Rico ran WOO 100% he would be champion.

Sorry, he'd just crash more running over his head!

Zomer and Lynton were the only cars running Badlands to show up at Knoxville Friday night and not one post questioning why other Badlands cars didn't go to Knoxville. Yet here's a thread and several posts questioning the motives and integrity of Knoxville regulars that didn't go to Badlands on Saturday night. Talk about hate and myopic views.

"From a Sponsor" you seem to think you know everything but I will tell you myself that I paid no one to stay away. That would not be good for the sport. Tod Quiring

Dear Mr. Quiring,

While I commend you for taking the time to respond to this thread, I find the actual content of your response extremely disappointing!

See, I heard from a very reputable inside source of an outside source that you also have some kind of double secret, under Terry McCarl’s bed program where you have been paying off spectators!  I was told that the way this program works is that you will give anyone who lives within a three county radius of Marion County, Iowa, and who have ever attended a race at Knoxville, “upfront” money if they promise they will never go to Badlands.  According to my totally reliable source, it doesn’t even matter if you’ve never been to Husets/Badlands before or if you even ever plan on going there in the future.  Just promise you won’t go and you’re in the $$$!

This information has been totally verified by another source of mine who is clairvoyant and consequently well acquainted with your financial statement and tax returns.  He says that some of these people (probably the ones who are at Knoxville every Saturday night all season) got free homes on Lake Rathbun along with a speed boat in return for their promise to be loyal to Knoxville!

Now I don’t mean to be greedy Mr. Quiring, so I’ll forego the lake house and speed boat, but couldn’t you slide at least a couple hundred my way for being a loyal Knoxville fan?  Shoot, for a grand, I’ll even quit eating tacos.

P.S.  No disrespect, but by the way, are you sure your given birth name wasn’t Santa Claus, Satan or El Chapo?!  Maybe it’s just me, but there seems to be a lot of undercurrent toward those possibilities.

P.P.S  For those few whose IQ’s are smaller than their hat size, this is supposed to be satire.  S-A-T-I-R-E.  (I didn’t say it was necessarily good satire.)  So before you get your panties all in a knot, try using your on-line dictionary.

Badlands vs Outlaws.... And Badlands got there asses kicked! Just saying. The one Knoxville regular even beat all of them and he got 8th. Figured I had to get that in in return. Carry on wink

Night two was no different. Good job Ian!

Alright newbeever start making excuses for your B and C main filler cars.

Also Blundy fan, good thing you put your disclaimer on there.... Poor excuse for S-A-T-I-R-E. Quintilian would be disappointed.

Who cares, glad Ian was there. By the way, didn't a badlands regular beat the outlaws and your k-ville boys at k-ville earlier this year, if were keeping score.

Being a Badlands regular this year given the circumstances in no way takes away from the fact he's a Knoxville blue blood through and through. I think it's rather cool that an Iowa driver is the all time A Main winner at Badlands/Husets.

And too, as you do know, the Nationals are in Iowa and that's the way that is.

for the most part, I am usually very reluctant to ever question drivers on when/where they choose to race and when/where they choose not to race.    Especially the "lower budget" teams who have full time jobs.   But In all fairness to the subject at hand, One Show paid $3000 to win and $500 to start and the other paid $10000(possibly $15000) to win and $700 to start.   I think that might be why people are wondering why certain teams here or there came or didn't come.   For the record, the only ones that surprised me was tasker Phillips and Chris Marten not coming to badlands.  Also surprised Zomer ran Knoxville friday.   Other than that I'm not surprised about any of the others.

I know some of the posters on here, not pointing to Green18, will find this hard to swallow, but Independence Day may of had something to do with some teams not traveling.

Agreed!   A number of drivers didn't have their wives  and children  with them Saturday and Sunday. Brad sweet and Shane Stewart just to name two  because they stayed home for the holiday with their families.   Obviously they understand that there will always be races held on holiday weekends throughout the season, but I bet if you took a poll, the majority of drivers would vote to take those weekends off to be with their families.   Maybe I'm wrong ...

I think the majority of teams, be they hobby racers or proffessional, sprint car or not, look at many factors before they decide to race or not race somewhere.  They have to take into account the cost to race- $1000 per night is the amount usually quoted to field a 410 sprint, as long as there are no major issues.   Then compare that to the probability of winning back at least that much.  The outlaw race may pay $15,000 to win, but if you're not an outlaw caliber team, you're running for the 10th-20th place payout.

Most non-proffessional race teams seem to lose steam as the season wears on and money runs out.  At some point a guy has to pace himself to still be racing after the 4th of July.  I'm sure it's a fun hobby if you're racing, but not as much fun after you park the car for the season and watch from the stands.  Sitting out a high dollar race where you might make the A has to weighed against saving money and equipment to maybe win a feature locally.  Racers being competitive, winning a feature race in the small pond seems to carry more bragging rights than almost making it out of the WoO B before crashing.

Another consideration is the fun factor.  How much fun is it for a low buck team to risk tearing up their equipment while being lapped by Donny Schatz 5 times?  Would it be more fun to be with the family on the Fourth of July?
