That's a heckuva quality, diverse (georgraphic, experience, etc.) driver roster. Wow!
While only in its 2nd year the Winter Heat Series has become the premier "off-season" winged race/race series in the U.S. Could it place its name amongst the "premier" events already on the landscape - Knoxville, King's Royal, WG Natty Open, Gold Cup, etc. Could it enter the conversation as being on par with those, well maybe those "2nd Tier" events being nothing will ever be Knoxville.
That might be "top 5" best ("best" is a relative term) rosters of any race this year...PA presence not withstanding save for Ryan Smith (it's a pretty good haul from PA).
It's certainly a unique format and has drawn quality drivers in only its second year. Good stuff for sprint car racing.

It appears (based on registration) that the Winter Heat is also helping the Chili Bowl by keeping some big names in the states a little longer. Its been quite a while since I have seen so many winged 410 guys (especially WoO guys) running the Chili Bowl. Not sure the last year McMahan ran at the bowl for example. I will def be ordering at least a couple nights of winter heat! Great series, and really glad it is starting to take off!
Real race cars don't have fenders...

Hodnett will make his debut at Cocopah Speedway, where he will drive for California car owner Joe Von Schriltz. Hodnett and the Heffner Racing Enterprises team he drives for in Pennsylvania recently shipped Von Schriltz a car they used during the season as well as a fresh engine from Rider Racing Engines.

Found a cheap flight to Phoenix. That will be a 3 hr. drive, but affordable compared to Yuma options.
I'm going!
