According to the IRA websight, Wayne Johnson will be there.

I was kind of hoping to see a few guys from the Cedar Lake area, maybe from the Dakota's too. With the WoO at least 16 hrs away from WI, I would guess any Knoxville guys would go there (if they go anywhere), rather than travel up to WI. Time will tell.

Don't count on many Dakota cars, as a whole 1 car showed up at Cedar Lake. I don't care if Huset's was scheduled the same night or not. The Richert Memorial hasn't drawn the NOSA drivers for whatever reason for the past several seasons. They might just as well save the ink and take NOSA off that race next season. Hope you get a great count regardless!

Some will be racing in Illinois on Friday and Saturday with MASS. Saturday is the Tom Knowles midget/sprint race...

Was the Huset's show scheduled from the beginning of the year or did they schedule against Cedar Lake just to piss everybody off? COOPERATION!!!! Why run a Saturday when you run Sundays all damn year?

Looking for a great weekend, might have to dress warm though. IRA fans are so blessed with the loyal and talented following of IRA member supporting teams. Some of the best shows I've ever seen are with the IRA core guys, period. However there has been interest shown in this weekend by some others, including some high profile teams whom I do expect. All of whom  have run with IRA at some point this year, though a few may have different drivers than in their earlier outings. One even has a slightly different accent. Should be a great weekend for sprint car fans as IRA competes at two of its' favorite venues. The IRA show pays slightly better than it's nearest in proximity also.

Think about a number that comes after 4 and before 6. A puzzle piece on this board will be filled in this weekend in WI.

I agree with Steve on the core IRA guys. It will be interesting to see how the top 10 stack against the "invaders". Going out on a limb here, but this might be the weekend for IRA's BK5.

Too bad the one with a slightly different accent couldn't have been a week earlier. His other half was in the neighborhood but he was off panning for gold somewhere. wink

I think it was this one but I don't know the driver's name. I'm just a photographer, ask me details like names, owners, drivers, I don't have a clue.

It was Casey Mack from I beleive Grand Forks. He did not make the show, but at least showed up and gave it a shot which is more than the rest of NOSA did. I know Huset's was scheduled to run the same night (jackasses, I think they pulled this crap a couple years ago too, changed from Sunday to Saturday) and some went there instead. I know all about the fuel prices too, it is just disappointing to see less and less of those guys come to Cedar Lake. For a few years there, they had 6 or 8 drivers show up, but it has obviously dwindeled since. It's too bad. IRA had 3 or 4 come from IL though, and Blonde was in Superior from MI.

One year we saw 47 cars for this show but it was perfect weather and diesel was $1 a gallon cheaper. Some sources were predicting as much as a 60% chance of rain by 9pm. If I was based in Knoxville or Grand Forks I'd think twice about spending $300 on fuel, $100 on a motel as well as paying the fee and pit passes for the crew. I'm sure it costs around $500 just to show up at Cedar from GF or K'ville. Not something a lot of teams are going to risk anymore when the weather is questionable. Nevertheless, we got something like 33 cars which was more than the Outlaws July show so it was a good show.

We don't expect to see car counts like the Knoxville Nationals up here but I'll take 33 cars 45 minutes from home over 100 cars five hours from home. Perhaps next year some of the other tracks will respect what they're trying to accomplish and not schedule against the Richert Memorial. You can hardly expect that kind of cooperation in this business but it would be nice if the other promoters would leave that date open out of respect for what the Richert family is doing.

It was great to see Scratch Daniels again after all these years. He looked fit enough to jump into a car and go racing. That was really a nice touch to see Jerry Richert Sr's team mate from the Wagner Chevy make an appearance in the #62 retro graphics car. It was awesome seeing Scratch and Jerry Jr. make a parade lap during the anthem. Scratch was one of my heroes when I was a kid and he used to drive the #22 Supermodified at Twin City.

We had a great time both during and after the races. I think I made it until about 3am before I had to crawl into the camper that night.
