Race Drivers are taking a beating this Month.
17 year old Josh Jackson in Arizona. Had a car spin in front of him causing him to roll and get hit the head upside down breaking his skull and he may loose an eye. Was in a coma for week and a half. Running a Non-wing Car Two weeks late we lost Jim Campbell jr. Running a Wing Car. Then Keven Swindell had his crash. Running a Wing Car. Then it was Patrick Stasa. Running a Non-wing Car. Now we lost Justin Wilson. Running an Indy Car.
Will it stop please.

Lots of Sadness. It will pass but it's like we are back in the cageless days. In Justin Wilson's case he was cageless... God Speed.
Frank Sinatra and Elvis Presley - "My Way"

A simple halo bar above the driver's head would greatly improve the safety of non-wing cars.
This has been a horrible 2 week stretch. The worst I can remember.

+1000 I only see a few guys running this (the Vanderweers on the west coast) and they win their fair share of races.
I know the argument, its harder for the driver to get of a car on fire, but I see way more head injuries than fires, I guess you pick your poison. No matter what they do, sprint car drivers will continue to get hurt and killed, but safer cars (especially non wing) would be a good thing IMHO

Not sure if anybody looked closely at Aaron Reutzel's Roth Motorsports car at the Nationals, but the KPC he was driving had extra bars above the driver's head... very similar to the KPC that Meyers drove for CH Motorsports a year ago. They weren't small bars either... looked a lot safer, IMO.

Stasa bicylced the car on a heavy track going into 1 and the car went into a high speed cartwheel. It got quite a bit of air and hit the catch fence at a high rate of speed up high. It appeared that the back side/top of the cage took a direct hit on the steel fencing posts. It wan an extremely violent impact.
