I've said for a long time, the Outlaw tour is only designed to have about 10 full time teams.  Financially, it just doesn't make much sense after that.  They're relying on local teams to take the $800 and run near the back.  That $800 doesn't cut it when you're on the full tour trying to make ends meet with little or no sponsorship.

People discount the tow money aspect of it. I beleive all the full time teams or at least those in the top 10 get $500 per race, which adds up to about $40k at the end of the year. Certainly not enough to make it worthwhile to run the whole tour, but added with the point money, it makes it smarter to run 100% of the tour as opposed to 70-80% and getting nothing at the end of the year.

Not sure if they gave TK tow money when he ran most of the races this year, but if not, it didn't make a ton of sense for TK to follow 75% of the races, cross the country twice and not run the whole tour. He likely would have finished 3rd in points and got $55k in point money, plus the $40k in tow money.

Bare with me, this is my first official post.
2014 WoO

Schuchart

Allen

Pittman

Schatz

Swindell

Kinser's

Dollansky = he will get sponsorship

Madsen

Sides

Saldana

Rose = don't see how

Kemenah = ???

Darrah

McMahan

S. Stewart = 50-60 races

J. Perricone = 20 races (Big Races)

Gravel = does he have $$$$, BWW 82??

Guys that Should be on tour but prolly won't

T. Schaffer = I said it..... give this guy some money and equipment watch out

Blaney = Older.... very good

B. Brown = argueably the best driver in the country...top 3

J. Johnson = 4 ASCS National Tour Championships in a row.... Granted its ASCS and a 360 but still

B. Sweet = NASCAR... would be great on tour... he should of won all four races at Eldora this past year, not just the King's Royal

The Dude = old and cranky

Greg Hodnett = should be on tour.... once again $$$

Kaeding = hothead.... will Roth let him??

R. Abreau = can for sure afford it does he want it???

I could keep going on to name more and more drivers but will stop here. 410 sprint car racing may be the healthiest it has ever been since I can remember. Granted I am only 30 years old but I have been watching sprint cars since I was like three. My point is for many of these guys, by that I mean most of them, it is not worth it to run the WoO tour... I REPEAT, IT IS NOT WORTH IT TO RUN THE FULL TOUR FOR POINTS. In 2013 the Outlaws got 75 shows in from February til this past weekend, 10 or so rainouts. In the late 90's early 2000's they were running 100-120. So less races..... A regular WoO purse has not gone up since the 90's. Still same old $10,000 to win. For the last twent years??? Naturally we all know this arguement 20 years later same purses, fewer races, higher costs = failing tour. Now my huge gripe.

Daryn Pittman just won $150,000 for the title, in 1998 the point champ got $180,000. Yes thats right. The World Racing Group has STP as a title sponsor..... Sells out every race all across the country at 30-35 bucks a pop and from what i understand sanctioning fees are ridiculous for local racetracks. Where does all this money go? They haven't raised any purses or the points fund in sometime, granted I understand costs but cmon guys... If I were a racer or owener, I would race with Outlaws from May til Knoxville, much like Kaeding did this past year... It's really not worth it money wise from a owner stand point..... Thats all for now....... lets hear your opinions

World Racing Group doesn't get the ticket revenues you speak of unless it's their event and if it's their event they're also paying the purses and everything related to the event.

The sanctioning fee would also cover the team tow packages and all of their own operating expenses (payroll, travel, insurance, etc.)

Who has the early WoO 2014 schedule? Saw it on here a week or so ago, but can't find it.

This is what I've pulled together from google searches, press releases and the post about spring Cali races in here a few weeks ago. You can certainly pencil in a few more with the traditional Grove and Eldora dates, among others, but here is what is "official" so far:

15-Feb Volusia County
16-Feb Volusia County
5-Mar Las Vegas

28-Mar Merced
29-Mar Silver Dollar
5-Apr Calistoga
6-Apr Calistoga
11-Apr King's
12-Apr Perris
18-Apr Devil's Bowl
19-Apr Devil's Bowl
14-Jun Knoxville
4-Jul Dodge City
5-Jul Dodge City

I've always kept the tow money in mind too.  By the time you figure in fuel and tires for your car plus fuel for the hauler.  The tow money doesn't really go too far.  I definitely agree though, if you're going to run 75% of the races, you might as well run them all.

I wouldn't be too quick to list August 6-9 just yet.....

Sounds like unless the WRG brings TV to the table for 2014, the show will go back to un-sanctioned and be televised by MavTV....

Couple of quick points:  1) At the banquet Sunday night, Dan Motter annonced that Joey and the entire crew would be returning for 2014.  2) SLS Promotions was scheduled to promote 19 races (including a couple that rained out) in 2013, not "MOST of" the schedule.

You can add Tim Kaeding in the Roth Motorsports 83 to the list of fulltime drivers.

Now Johnny, why would you go and runi a perfectly good thread with facts?  Out of anyone, you must know that this message board is filled with wanna-be owners and drivers that have the best interest of your organization in mind.

Come on man, stick with the format.  It's worked for a decade now!

Love them or hate them..... the World of Outlaws still by far the best series out there. Best drivers, best announcer, best tracks, best purse, best points fund! I wouldn't be surprised to see 12 to 14 following the tour.

He is going to be a major threat. I think it will be a very interesting year.

Question #1...Who are Bobby Allen's "grandkids" that are running?

Question #2...Is the Schuchart thing confirmed?

Logan Shuchart and Jacob Allen are the two drivers. From what I understand is they will be running both teams out of one trailer. They plan on running the full WoO schedule, but with a limited budget, that could change during the season.

So Shuchart is Bobby's grandson too? That would explain it! And I dont see them staying on the tour long having both teams out of one trailer. Do they have enough room for about 8 engines, and 4 of everything else?

Logan is the grandson & Jacob is Bobby's son or so he told me at Waynesfield. Unless they upgrade they are using the trailer that Bobby built.
