40+ gallons of fuel? Yes, if that is what it takes to run 40 or 50 laps. A sprint car race is supposed to be run WITHOUT stops.
2-25 lap features suck!
|
I agree 2-25lap suck, a sprint race should be NO FUEL STOP, 35 laps at Knoxville would be ideal, If you run out of fuel so be it.

The nationals format is fine, as evidenced by the packed grandstand, & big ass grins on everyone's faces. I wish they could do 100 laps.

Who pays for the purse....fans
Put on a show for the fans.
If tires are putting rubber down get rid of them, tanks arent big enough get rid of them. Been WoO free for 6 years $35 should be worth 40 or 50 laps. If you put a show on new fans may show up!

Go back to 30-35 40 tops. The whole stopping to refuel blows and it started taking rubber at the end of the first 25.
|
Agree. This is sprint cars not sprint cup racing, however tires and fuel will always be an issue no matter how may laps. I don't care how many laps just no planned stops.

Think about it, 30 laps for a National Championship? Laughable, and your the same guy's crying on here day in and day out for television coverage. Television isnt going to show a 30 lap main that could last 15 minutes?? Then what? Why not just run a heat race and call it good!!!! I say 50 laps no stops and let the teams figure it out. Dah, like the way real racing should be! Now there's a concept.

not a fan of the 50 lap race with a midway stoppage, it kills the show.

People have paid good money to watch a heavy weight fight that lasted less than 3 minutes. And the fighter walks away with millions. It is what it is.

30 laps....only stops would be for red flag.
The current structure does not resemble sprint car racing.
|
I think the drivers will tell you it resembled a sprint car race

the changes to Friday night where a great change!! the crowd for Friday night was bigger then the past 5-10 years. get rid of the world challange and do a race between the top 5 posse, knoxville, woo, cali, and true outlaws.
|
I do not know for sure, but I think some Australian money was in the purse. What does this race hurt? I was there all 4 days and I did not mind it at all.

Tradition? If that is the reason for going back to 30 laps then we need to take the wings off also.
Not a big fan of the fuel stop but I like the 50 lap race. This race pays 150 grand why not make them race for it.
I don't understand they are called sprint cars and this is a sprint style race argument. Drag racing would be more like a sprint style race and those cars are called Funny Cars and Top Fuel Dragsters not sprint cars. The name of the class really means nothing.
The Friday night show was a dud for years and I really havent been to one in years. They needed to make Friday worth a little more and having the World Challenge winner go to the tail of the A is a nice change. All the changes made to Fridays format have been for the better in my opinion. They have added importance to it and I might have to go Friday next year.

Anyone who thinks an A main should go more than 15 laps must be an ID-10-T ... after all 15 laps is half again as many laps as most heat races .. and anything more could lead to fuel stops. SOOooo - let's make the 2014 Knox Nats a tidy 15 laps and get it over with ... without any of those pesky reds flags/fuel stops.

I agree, 50 laps and let the teams figure it out. Don't the USAC cars run 50 laps on pavement? Maybe the drivers need to learn how to manage thier tire wear?
