What I've learned from this is that nobody can change, ever, according to the OP. 3 years ago I was a completely different person. I wasn't an asshole, necessarily, but alcohol was running my life, and I was very much a pessimist, and quite frankly, an oversensitive pain in the ass. But I made changes in my life, and I'm a million times happier and more pleasant to be around these days. My outlook on EVERYTHING is different, and most importantly (in this discussion, at least), I'll carry on pleasant conversation with people I'd really rather not. Not saying Busch is/was an addict, but I am saying the dude has obviously made some changes in his life, and I've never respected him more. I would have beat his ass had I seen him in real life after the Jerry Punch thing, but carrying that kind of negativity around made me feel even worse than he did, I'm sure.

I'd say that Michael Andretti is top tier in anyone's book.

Kenny, I was referring to NASCAR.

While I wouldn't walk across the street to see a CART (or whatever it is now called) race I have great respect for Andretti.

I'm sure Michael will be glad to hear that.

Glad to hear you made those changes. However, Kurt Busch isn't being a better person because he wants to be a better person. He's being a better person because he got black listed from major Nascar teams and he spent all of last year driving a car with no sponsorship. Now, he's moved up to a one car team. More "changes" needed before he lands in a big ride again. I hope all the big teams keep seeing through the new, fake Kurt and he doesn't ever land another big time ride.

No disrespect meant to the Furniture Row team--they are a very competitive team. Too bad they had to hire a douche bag just because of his talent level.

Tell him the next time you see him. I would like to know his reaction!

Not sure if it's true, but I've heard Kurt is basically under contract with RCR but leased out to FRR. It's also widely rumored he'll be driving directly for RCR next yr.....he's one of the few left in that garage that could do the #3 justice if it was brought out....of course that's reserved for RC's grandson but I thought that would get some of your panties in a bunch. I don't understand why everyone hates Kurt, do you really want to see more politically correct guys like JJ, Kasey, & Carl? Shut up and race.

Wow. You seem to know so much about me, but yet don't know me, nor have you ever met me. It is ironic that you would tell me not to judge someone that I have seen interviewed countless times--have seen act like a child countless times--have seen berate professionals over and over--and yet you judge me because I simply gave my opinion that someone's behavior is unacceptable. I have seen plenty of him to make a sound judgement call--you know nothing of me.

I never answered my own question. I turned the TV off after listening to Dave kiss his ass for about 2 minutes. So, I ask again: why do they have this tool on TV? It costs them viewers. I am not the only person I know that turned it off when they saw Kurt on there.

First paragraph, last sentence of your op.

And if you think that people don't tune in to see a guy like KB, you're mistaken. Look around in all other types of sports, entertainment, etc. Society loves to see another being rise to the top, fall (especially), and struggle to achieve again.

I won't disagree with you on your point about society loving to see someone rise to the top, fall, and struggle to achieve again. But there is usually a feel good story behind it. Kicking an addiction. A major career threatening injury. A major family tragedy. Coming from the poor part of town. Most don't root for a spoiled brat to make it back to the top of the heap after pissing it away.

Hey, all of you are entitled to your own opinions here. I'm just not rooting for him. Actually, rooting for his complete failure if I have to be truthful. And, just to clear the air, I love to follow a lot of controversial sports figures--Tony Stewart is one of my favorite to listen to. Tony is easy to root for though--came from close to nothing, climbed the mountain. Although he never really fell from the mountain, he has had his ups and downs. His attitude is one that commands respect, whether you like him or hate him.

The only reason they are a competitive team is Kurt Busch. They didn't stand a chance anywhere other than the 2 1/2 mile tracks until this year. The dude can wheel a sprint cup car plain and simple. I've grown to appreciate his talent this year just seeing what he's been able to do in the 78 car. I wish him luck, and hopefully a good attitude!

So he's doing what he needs to do to keep his career in the best possible order (arguably a characteristic of someone who is taking some responsibility in life), and people will still sit here and mother eff him for THAT? Some guys just can't win. Lucky for Kurt Busch, he can.

There are some on this board who make a career out of bashing people places and things Ryan. It's just part of their lifestyle and who they are, insecure little boy's.

I also agree that people can change. While Kurt's personality is not my favorite, I can see a change in his behavior since he has lost his rides. Changing who you are is not an easy task. It does not matter if you are chasing addiction problems, psychological problems, or emotional problems.

Finally, I find most of these people's response on this topic to be hypocritical. Everyone will ignore Kurt Busch's driving skill, and rally against his off the track personality. However, these same people will ignore Danica's off the track personality, and rally against her driving skills. If we are truly going to judge a driver by their results on the track, there is no denying that Kurt is an amazing talent.

I'm not much for TV, but I'd be more likely to watch a race if Kurt Busch is in it? Not a fan, don't root for him, but he's good and as a race fan who goes to (or tunes in) watch racing, his talent is a welcome asset.

Kurt is a complete dousche. Everything he says isn't said out of frustration, he says it for attention and he is horrible at. You can tell by the flow of his words. I have been around racing my entire life and I know a good cusser when I see one, Kurt isn't one. Last year at the Prelude he said something about premature ejaculation in a interview. It was so premeditated and didn't even flow.... Again, compete dousche.

"LAST YEAR AT THE PRELUDE HE SAID SOMETHING ABOUT PREMATURE EJACULATION IN AN INTERVIEW. IT WAS SO PREMEDITATED AND DIDN'T EVEN FLOW" LOL

Ascot was the greatest of all time..

West Capital wasn't half bad either..

So if someone posts their opinion that doesn't agree with yours, they are an "insecure little boy"? I'm sure in none of your 4 thousand plus posts you've never bashed "people, places, and things", right? That would make you a hypocrite, but at least you're not "insecure".

I don't care what attitude any driver has.. If you can race fast, clean, be wildly exciting and win, you'll have my attention. Nice guys finish last.

The Dr. Punch deal was bad, but when Kurt showed he was not interested in a interview Punch should have moved on. Also the drivers must learn that almost anyone can take a film with a phone camera. Seems alot of people want to catch you in a bad situation. Kurt is one heck of a driver. We have always given people a second or third chance. I think Kurt realized that his days in nascar were about over if he did not change. Some guys want to win so bad they get sick over it. Kurt was not the only one ever to do so.
