Vande,,campground is open 6 1/2 months not 12 , they say they turn the electric off in the winter there is no snow removal for the campground, no employees in the winter,.. So even at your #'s that 40,000 profit.

Security for the campgrounds,,you've got to be kidding!!!!!!

I'm done with this.

In the past the same crew that did the mowing did the snow removal (parking area Bingley Bldg, ticket office, skate pit,and the driveways in and out also the sidewalk in front of track) So yes the snow removal expense is built into the bid from the grounds crew that does the mowing. The race track is under the jurisdiction of the Marion County Sheriff . I would assume the campgrounds are the same . Every August the county has a bunch of extra help and over time pay . I am not an accountant but would assume the county spreads this cost out over the entire year . My point is there are year round expenses.

I don't have much of a problem with the rules but I think a 20% increase is excessive. Yes it has been a couple of years since we have had a increase but I think the percentage should be more in line with the general cost of living. I haven't saw much of a improvement in the 10 years I have camped there and will be surprised if I see much in the future. Fair board would have been smart to set up a meeting with the season campers to get their input.

So, you'd rather they raise the rate 2-3% every year instead of staving off increases?

Scenario - 2002 you paid $500 to camp, if they raised the rates 3% YEARLY, your rates would be

2003 - $515

2004 - $530.45

2005 - $546.36

2006 - $562.75

2007 - $579.64

2008 - $597.03

2009 - $614.94

2010 - $633.39

2011 - $652.39

2012 - $671.96

2013 - $692.12

So, looks to me like the increase is what it would be if they did go with the general cost of living YEARLY. They choose to stave that off and make a one time price change every 10 years or so.

You actually SAVE $$$ by them doing so, but don't let math get in the way of your complaint about price increases.....

Nobody is forcing anyone to drink the KoolAid! If you don't like the terms go elsewhere. Simple.
