Good grief, everyone gets all upset about labeling drivers so lets get a system we can all agree on. Lets say a drivers label (the series they belong to or where they race) is what that driver currently spends the majority of his/her season racing.

Example: Daryn Pittman was an Outlaw, but he has since dedicated the majority of his racing to the Posse country, therefore he is PA Posse. Tim Shaffer, a one time World of Outlaw driver, now devotes his time to the All Star Circuit of Champions, therefore he is an All Star. Terry McCarl a Knoxville local, was an Outlaw in the mid-to-late 2000's, but he has since left the Outlaw tour to become a Knoxville local once again.

Of course there are always exceptions to the rule. Those such as Kyle Larson and Shane Stewart that do not belong to any series or track. People like him are called "true outlaws."

Now of course, no driver ever loses their heritage. Tyler Walker is certainly a California native and has raced there quite a lot, so people can always say he is from California. But dammit, if he is racing the vast majority of his season in Pennsylvania, against Posse drivers, then he is Posse. The label is simply what you spend the large majority of your season racing, if you race a little bit of everything then you get the "true outlaw" label. I think this is a fair way to label drivers, what say you Hoseheads can we all agree upon this labeling system? Amendments can be made as long as there is reasoning behind it.

It's the way Central Pa fans have labeled their Posse drivers forever. I will give you two other examples, Stevie Smith and Lucas Wolfe. Even though both were born in Central Pa, and raced the majority of their careers there, both are now NOT considered Posse. Wolfe is an Outlaw and Smith a true Outlaw. However, there is one exception to the theory right now. The Dude WILL NEVER be considered Posse by the fans even though he is in the Zemco car right now.

Stevie has spent most of his career as an Outlaw, not a Posse driver. He will always be an Outlaw which is where he had the vast majority of his success, now he is a true Outlaw, go get 'em Stevie.....

Yes, the examples of Smith and Wolfe are perfect and is exactly what I am getting at. As far as The Dude goes, he basically has to go under the label of true outlaw because he isn't running for points anywhere. He started the season in Missouri and Iowa and halfway through he is now in Pennsylvania. Is the Zemco car going to stay in PA with The Dude behind the wheel or are they going to travel more (I haven't seen a schedule so I'm curious). Now if next year, he runs a full schedule in Pennsylvania, then I will certainly consider him Posse because that is what he is devoting all of his time to. He will just be a Posse member that has had a lot of previous success with the Outlaws and weekly at Knoxville.

I just think its funny how PA people will claim a driver after a night of racing with them. I mean if someone runs a race in PA, they are all of a sudden posse. Let me put it on the other foot for a minute, if a PA guy was to come to california and race for a year, you think in cali they would be claiming them as one of theirs? No, dont float that way out here....

If you meet a Ohio girl in a PA bar, is she posse?

Are you referring to Pittman who's been a local in PA for 4 years now?

why not meyers, think he won a race there... unreal...

so let me guess when dollanskys kid used to rent rides out here in cali, was he one of our own?

still didnt answer the question if a ohio girl in a pa bar is posse or not? makes me wonder if you hold your drivers more loyal then your women haha

and i thought the definition of the word posse, meant not only doing it in your own back yard, but in others backyards also... GET EM 50 cent... Half way to a dollar!

Tyler looks a bit like Nicholas Cage, & acts like one of his characters. Fast Freddy on the other hand, is a dead ringer for "Cheers" Cliff Clavin... never sat & BSed with him at the "bah", but I wonder....

You didn't answer my question either.

Is Davey Sammons not Posse either because he was born and lives in New Jersey?

I don't think there's any doubt any more that Pittman is Posse.

One thing I will say is that in some people's eyes, the definition of who is "an Outlaw" is very strict (only those card carrying members can be given credit for being one, see Swindell, Sammy 2010 Nat'l Open victory) and the definition of "Posse" is really loose (Dude, Walker, Shaffer after winning Knoxville in 2010, or anyone who races for a PA owner, is/was from PA, run any local shows etc...)

That bit of silliness is fun to point out every now and again.

My classification of Posse is if a driver runs here on a weekly basis...Ill use all the examples on this board. Pittman, he runs here every week and has for a couple years, posse. Sammons, has races every week almost in the past two years here, Posse. Walker, raced every week here for multiple years before his rehab and is now back to racing every week, posse. I dont give a damn where the driver started or where they were born or where they raced, if they race here week in and week out, and have been for multiple years then they are posse. Wolfe and Stevie Smith, I do not believe are posse because both have vanished from racing in Pa with the exceptions of when outlaws are here and when big money shows are here. Let the bashing begin on my persepective of a posse member begin

No, Davey Sammons is not Posse...Neither is Riff Rafferty for that matter... wink

According to Pennsylvania state law Posse residency requirements are racing 51% of time in PA, paying PA state income tax or beating the Outlaws anywhere in the country in a Posse owned race car (80% car, 20% driver rule). If the Dude wins Knoxville this year it is solely because he is in a competitive race car for the first time in years....a posse race car. Corn country cars can't hang.

You guys are the only ones who use the word POSSE... YET outside the state of PA, nobody knows your name... Seems to me the most hype posse land got this year, was when a (according to you posse land residence) had a california kid come in, and all you could do is find negativaty.. Someone PLEASE tell me why again these are the greatest fans in the sport of sprint car racing?

your wing ding clan cant even whip up on usac when they come in... GET EM!

Get em at the daytona 500 or the brickyard 400, or wait, no dog in the fight for PA hahaha

Let me tell you as a california native, it felt DAMN good that a Californian won the first ever brickyard 400....

our "wing ding clan" doesnt run with usac when they are here could be why we dont whoop up on them. Winning any asphalt championship has nothing to do with us, we dont brag about any of that nonsense?? Sorry for having a name for our sprint car enviroment here. Not too sure what everyone has against PA racing besides the few idiots who talk us up like were god.

Further clarification for 'sidewayz'..the term Pa Posse only applies to the geographical area of southcentral Penna, not the entire state. For example, Tim Shaffer and Danny Holtgraver are from Pa, but western Pa, and therefore are not considered Posse.
