I'M VERY GLAD TO SEE THIS WASN'T WORSE-----LOOKED PRETTY BAD-----GET WELL SOON JAMIE AND OUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU FOR A SPEEDY FULL RECOVERY.......Here's the latest update from his dad Larry Ball Jr's Facebook page....Methodist Hospital is in Des Moines, Iowa for anyone interested.
"Jamie is now in surgery. They are going to have to rebuild the elbow and he will regain the majority of the movement in his arm and because of the size of the cut under his armpit they are going to clean and stitch that up as well. They estimate over hour and a half to clean that wound and stitch it and the cut on his thigh as well. Will know more in about 4 hours. He is for sure in a lot of pain. — at Methodist Hospital."

I see that Larry has posted some updates on Facebook, good to hear Jamie will be alright (although I would imagine he is in for 12 months or so of rehab for his elbow).

Im glad that Ball survived that one. Very scary!! The rescue crew never stops amazing me. They were at the car within 3 seconds of it coming to a stop. Unbelievable. Jamie is a very talented young driver, hopefully he can make a full recovery and drive again.

from the video it looks like the fuel tank went into the car and the push bumper might have caused the damage to his arm, side and i think his leg was hurt also.

I would like to encourage all those that attend races (or just 1 race) @ Knoxville to buy a 50/50 ticket (or multiple) when they are at the races.
It's not until a driver gets hurt that the Insurance Policy that the KRCO purchases for each driver that races regularly @ Knoxville gets used, but I'm sure that Jamie, Larry and Jennie are relieved that it's there after the accident Saturday night.
The KRCO has helped many drivers over the years (some are not even drivers that race locally), and have earned my respect and I gladly buy $5 worth of 50/50 tickets every week.
The winner of the 50/50 last weekend (this was prior to the accident during the 2nd 360 Main) donated their entire winnings ($625 I think it was) back to the KRCO. Whoever you are, all I can say is: Wow.
I'd also like to thank the KRCO for all they do to help local organizations (the groups that do the selling) by donating a portion of ticket sales to them throughout the year including local schools (Twin Cedars, Pella, Knoxville, PCM, Melcher-Dallas, Pleasantville, youth baseball and football, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, and others.

Jamie got sent home on Monday, July 2, 2012. Jamie had been up moving around and on oral medicine all Monday morning and afternoon which was what the doctors wanted in order for me to go home. He was sent home with the tube they put in during surgery to take some of the fluid out of the wound by my armpit. He has an appointment with the surgeon on Tuesday, July, 10,2012 to go back and have the soft cast taken off. Since all the broken bones had been removed and replaced with titanium, they will remove the cast. Then, on Wednesday he will go back up and see the trauma doctor. They will remove my tube from my wound. Few days have past and they seem to go by pretty slow now that he is not able to do a whole lot. Tuesday wasn’t so bad but today(Wednesday) had a rough start. He is not in a lot of pain when he's laying down but when he have to get up and move around for a long period of time then he tend to get light headed and in more pain. Today, he has been able to get up more and start moving a little bit faster. He has been taking only one pain pill instead of two because the pain hasn’t been as bad. His dad is planning on racing this weekend in the 360 class. They got the motor in today and got it fired up. Larry is going to race a couple of times. We will not be racing the nationals this year. But Larry will be racing 305 and maybe 360 a couple more times this year.

Get well soon Jamie, but remember you have a lot of years of racing left, then lots more life beyond that yet. Take the time to heal correctly now, a couple more months of down time is nothing compared to the rest of your life, so don't be in too big of a hurry to get back. Good luck with your recovery.
