WOW a mere $5 increase in 30 years? That's not bad!

Then again, they probably made a gazillion at that $5 rate 30 years ago. Hell, the darn tickets were only $10-$12 bucks.

The fair grounds outsourced the parking to cut down on overhead . to a company called black hawk protection. the fairgrounds put a cap on how much they can charge and the fair grounds gets a percentage . heard it from a gal named shelly who answered the phone when i called the fair grounds.

We need more sprint car racing at our home track.

The PAS has nothing to do with what the fair board charges for parking nor do they profit from it. All you naysayers bitching about how much it costs to attend a race at the PAS think about this-What would you do if the Perris was gone? Irwindale/Victorville/Orange Show all gone. It stings pretty hard when you figure gas/ticket prices/parking/concessions etc. to attend a race there but we almost always without fail see a great show at one of the best dirt tracks in the country. I'm pretty sure Donnie K. isn't getting rich. Me, I'll go out to dinner less and cut down on some other things I do in order make sure I can attend every race possible at the PAS and support them. I remember when Ascot went away and there was nowhere else the see real Sprint Cars (410 non wing) and it sucked. We should be figuring ways to support the PAS instead of bitching about it............

I think in order to debate this issue properly; people need to separate product and cost. We also need to recognize that even though the original post highlighted the cost of parking, the overall cost to attend is the real issue.

  • Product
    • Based on the race reports that I've read, it sounds like the PAS produced a great show on Saturday. That is, they produced a great product! Congrats on a good crowd and full field of cars.
  • Price
    • The high cost to attend is real. The fact that some people will chose not to attend, because the overall cost is high, is a real issue! We can tell everyone to suck it up, but at the end of the day, overall cost to attend will have a negative effect on attendance.
    • I think the challenge for the PAS, is they are sharing the cost burden with the Fair. When you don't have total control of ticket, concessions, and parking, it can be difficult to strategize or to get creative.

I am actually planning to attend the Outlaw show; I already have my ticket and to be honest, I'm pretty damn excited! I am also planning to attend some regular season sprint shows. I'm going to make every effort to support the PAS. With that said, I don't represent the greater public. The high cost to attend is a real issue. Hopefully the PAS can continue to find ways to compete, without overtaxing the race fans.

If a % of the parking increase went to the racers, it would be easier to take but as they say "it is what it is" I recently paid $20 to park at Angel Stadium for the Supercross, That hurt but the look on my Grandsons face during the races made up for the hurt to my wallet. When Nick Fass took it into turn 3 on his qualifying lap all I could think about was how F%$&*#g AWESOME Sprint Cars are. The parking was history at that point. We are blessed with the best racing period!! 70 thousand people at the Supercross paying $50 plus and we cant get half the seats filled for the Sprints? The show at the PAS on Saturday was 10 times better than the Supercross! I think Don and his staff do a great job and I pray we continue to have Sprint Car racing inSouthernCalifornia for as long as i'm around. I know with the times we are in right now $33+

gas and food is a lot for most of us but I will pay that and more to watch the best form of intertainment

in my book anytime!!!

I think that advertising is the issue with getting more people in the seats. I talk to way too many people in SoCal that are racing fans, but have never heard of the PAS. I didn't know that it existed for the first 5-6 years in operation.

In the first 5 or 6 years Perris was open they were getting national exposier every week on a variaty of shows on ESPN, TNN, Speed and more. You must have missed them.

I also love Supercross and wanted to go here in Phoenix. I did not have 300 bucks to spend for the family, but Supercross only comes to town one time per year (2 in OC and Vegas) so the high prices are expected. Sprint Cars 20 events per year. I think the thing here is ok, parking is a rip; maybe I only go to 5-7 events instead of 8-10 but I sure as hell am not going to let it ruin my season. I am going to go as often as budgets allow, and frankly if I drank one less beer there is the parking fund. Of course we all know in my case I probably won't drink any less beer, but the point is there is always a way to make it work if you truly want to.

Perris Auto Speedway is a special place, it should be more expensive. It's better. I say paying 8 bucks for parking sucks ass, and I hope they have change for a 20 when I get there...

I went to the Supercross event in San Diego it was $12 for the view section which I prefer you can see the whole track. The highest price ticket I think was $30 or $35.The all day trolly pass to the stadium was $5. Stadium parking was $20

Unless you've living under a rock, you've heard of the bind the state is in money wise. Do you suppose this might be a result of the state trying to keep parks open. No, that's too simple, easier to blame greedy pols, the tracks, Obama or whatever. Seems I have read of fees at state parks going up to try to keep them open.

If I would have gone to the races last Saturday, I wouldn't have had enough money. I used to go on $40. $20 to get in $5 to park and $5 for a program which left me $10 for food. If I would have gone last week I would have had to choose between a program, food or a drink. A drink not a few drinks and I'm talking soda not beer.

By the way, my reasoning for not going last Sat had nothing to do with the pricing. It was due to my being clumsy and breaking 2 toes and possibly the top of my foot. I couldn't make the walk in. I just wanted to make this clear so there's no one who misunderstands my posting!

There has to be a way to make a compromise here. There's no way I can talk any of my friends to go to Perris now. Just to go it would cost a family of 4 at least $100. Who has that kind of disposable income now?

I'm not saying I'm not going to go to Perris. Actually this is the first year I'm glad that the 410s race there only once a month. I can save money each week to go. It's just a shame that there can't be more of a compromise on the admission so that the fans can afford it and the purse stays high. Plus with the cost of gas/diesel/methanol that is going to factor in a lot for people who drive far distances to see racing at Perris.

It's sad, but I'm afraid with these price increases that the fan count will go down further than it did last year and then we will end up losing another track. That's something we can't afford.

CA is essentialy bankrupted because high taxes and ridiculous regulations are smothering growth.

Why should a business or individual call CA home, when you can operate for less in other business friendly environments?

Not only are the taxpayers leaving by the thousands, the non-taxpayers are migrating north adding to the financial burden...

Btw, maybe the parks should try lowering their prices, instead of catering to the elite.

I have a collection of programs that dates back to the 70s that started w/my Mom. I would hate to do my family dishonor. It's a family thing.

I'll deal with the extra $3 as long as they continue to let us drink our beer before we go inside. If they take away the pre-party I probably would not go any more

im just thankful we can still go to a sprint car race ! disneyland hasn't lowered its prices , beach parking is expensive , parking meters everywhere , it costs way too much to go see a movie . if you think it costs too much to go watch a sprint car race , well maby you need to go ask some of the teams how much they spend to provide you with this quality entertainment . if anyone thinks they have it bad walking in through the front gate , think about those that go through the back gate , some of the team owners spend more than $250 just to get the crew in the pits , this is just the crew ! i have never seen any of these teams complaining about it in a public forum or saying they wont come back . not all of the sprint car promoters are promoting in the best interests of our sport , in my opinion , the operators of the pas are doing everything they can to keep quality dirt track racing in so-cal alive .if running a track was as simple as some people think it is , well there would be a lot more tracks racing ..DRAMA CONTROVERSY & RIVALRY its what keeps people going !! it sure has kept this thread alive ....

$8.00 parking? Is that what we are fighting over. $3.00 extra. One guy posted to lower what they pay the drivers. LOL. I have raced all 3 races this year. Did well in the first race so no harm no foul. The second race I blew my motor up so I borrowed a car and destroyed it in the main. Can you say $$$ and it is not $8.00. Put my back up motor that was just rebuilt in the car and tested the next week at Perris and guess what happened? One of the rods decided to see what it looks like on the outside of the block. Mean while I helped out another racer who I won't mention, buy a new frame from 777. I'm thinking maybe I should just pay the $8.00 for parking and the $25 ticket to get in x 3 races and I should be ahead some where around $45,000. You don't hear the drivers complain about what it cost to run a car do ya. We do it because of the love. Don't you go to the track because there is nothing in this world like it. Do you know how much money Don K has put into this track and from what I have read he is not sure if he will ever get his money back. I see you guys on here all the time and I think you are just having fun because you just want to be on the board? There is just no way you would be complaining about a $3.00 increase in park right????
