have you used a wet sump accusump on cars like 305 or others that will not allow drysumps. how well did they work?

Works great you can run them one of two ways. Will save your motor from big time damage.

Ran an inline Pontiac 2.5L in my midget with 0 degrees if tilt (totally upright) with stock oil pan and very little oil control on a fairly fast 3/8 mile asphalt track for four years without a single oiling problem. We used a 3 quart Moroso Accusump with a shut off valve at the top so that it could be shut off before we shut the engine down. Open the valve to prime the engine before push off and closed before shut down for new prime. Worked great. Thinking about putting one on our 305.

When I built my first aluminum 410 (many years ago) I didnt have the money to finish the dry sump system so I used a accusump for the first year. It worked great.

Every once in awhile there will be 305 drivers on here complaining that the rules wont allow dry sumps, but they wont put one of these on their motors, even after I brought it to their attention,I guess it's not cool enough since it's not what the 360's or 410's have.

Maybe they could mount it vertically off the left front of the engine, it would look much cooler that way!

That would look a lot like a drysump tank wouldn't it!

It is not always about looking cool for some of us. I actually asked the club about running one back in 2008 when we started and they gave the green light back then. But I am a lazy fellow and I never pursue it. We have only had an oiling problem once on our car since 2008 when an oil filter collapsed inside (still not sure what caused that, but we changed it and the pressure came back and didn't hurt the engine), however during the winter every year I say that I am going to put an accusump on the car and by the first race every year I have forgotten about it. I am sure that one day I will regret this oversight!

I just think it's a smart way to go on a wet sump engine, but believe me I have made my share of mistakes. In being in too much of a rush I put my valve cover with breathers on the right side head, then I got to clean oil of the whole right side of my car, luckily it was just hotlaps.I didn't feel like quite as much of a dummy after I got to see someone else do the same thing, made me laugh though!
